For techies only - 05/29/09 11:27 AM
It's amazing how rapidly our means of communicating with each other has expanded.   Bye, Bye Pony Express....Hello electronic age.
There are now an infinite number of ways of reaching out to touch someone.   The latest method of communicating is through Google Wave, which will be made available later this year.
For those who are true techies this video will give you an insight into what the future holds.   Click here.  Warning: This video is not for everyone.
I'm not a true techie and have a limited understanding of new gadgets and gizmos.   The Google presentation runs an hour and a … (2 comments)

Who loves ya baby? The answer should be everyone. - 05/23/09 03:09 PM
I’ll cut right to the chase.   In order to be taken seriously in business today everyone needs a combination of factors working in their favor.  There is no single silver bullet that brings success, however one of the most basic requirements to succeed is respect and credibility.
You will know in your own daily routine that you would never deal with anyone in which you didn’t have complete trust in their ability to perform and then be there after the sale to provide on-going support.  Well.....neither would anyone else.   Gaining the trust and respect of your clients is … (5 comments)

In real estate success should be 90% inspiration and 10% perspiration.. - 05/23/09 02:48 PM
I can't tell you how many blogs I've written about giving yourself an hour of quiet "Think Time" every evening.    I do this personally every day....  Here's why.
Like you, my days are full and hectic.  They're filled with stresses and things that must be done immediately.   The one hour think time provides a needed respite to leave the world behind for 60 minutes to be alone with your thoughts.   It's a cooling down period at the end of the day to relax and put your mind at ease.
One hour spent alone lets you put the day in perspective to … (4 comments)

Feeling like a winner - 05/22/09 11:03 AM
How we feel about ourselves is key to how we perform.  I recall years ago the difficult time I had getting on my feet.   I'd work, and work and work some more.    No detail was left undone in my passion to succeed.   Many of my efforts ended in failure.   I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong.
That's when I invented the one hour of private "Think Time" every evening.    I needed to know what ingredient was missing in my marketing.    It turned out the missing ingredient had nothing to do with marketing, but rather personalization.
I had concentrated so … (6 comments)

There is only one customer....be it real estate or rhubarb. - 05/21/09 10:26 AM
Gosh......it's been ages since my last posting.   Busy days filled with business, family and fun have kept this humble scribe hopping.
Before moving on to something else in my writings I'd like to re-visit the notion of diversifying what you do.
If you're selling enough real estate to provide yourself and your family with the kind of income you desire........If you've socked away enough for your childrens' college fund, annual vacations to exotic locations and have earned the financial freedom you want in life READ NO FURTHER.
If not, you may wish to look at options which will allow you … (3 comments)

MONEY......is not a dirty word. - 05/15/09 01:43 PM
This may sound strange to many.....but the more we spend on selective advertising and personal contact marketing.....the more we earn.
I earlier wrote about diversifying.  (See here)   Some of you got the message and are doing so....others didn't.   There are winners and losers in every game.  I've also written about niche, or target marketing.    Again....... some got the message, others are still stuck in the mud.
If you've got the money.....and want to increase business selectively buy ADVERTISING!!!!!   If you don't have the money find ways of doing so at no cost....or low cost.    Forming relationships is also advertising.   In difficult … (0 comments)

Eating too much macaronni these days....? - 05/15/09 10:44 AM
The other day I wrote a blog about diversifying your real estate business to bring in extra dollars.  See here.   I'd like to add a little more to this today.
There are thousands of real estate agents out there who are doing extremely well selling real estate....but it's a safe bet that for every successful agent there are nearly as many who are struggling.   There's no sin in this.   It's a difficult time.
What is fundamentally wrong is that many have the attitude, "I'm a real estate professional and I refuse to compromise that exalted status by diversifying, even if it … (5 comments)

Doing business the new way through diversification. - 05/12/09 06:42 PM
It doesn't take much imagination to know that the more things you have to sell.....the more you will sell.   The more you sell...the more you earn.    The more you earn, the better you're able to look after your family's needs and your own.
In previous blogs I wrote at length about diversifying what you sell.    Putting all your eggs in one real estate basket just isn't the way to make hay these days.    I'm not saying that real estate shouldn't be your main focus....but I am suggesting that something as simple as an affiliate banner on your home page can bring … (3 comments)

Who in the world is Greg Pritchard??? - 05/12/09 10:45 AM
I wish we could get Britain's Got Talent here.    The Brits keep coming up with surprises.   First there was frumpy Susan Boyle who proved that looks can be deceiving when she took the world by storm and made headlines everywhere.   Then there was 10 year old Hollie Steel in a pink tutu who's voice amazed us all.    Now comes Welsh waiter Greg Pritchard who looks like a rocker....but has a singing voice like Jeannette McDonald.
Pritchard makes the range of American Idol's Adam Lambert sound almost as bassy as the Big Bopper.
If you haven't heard this.....HAVE A LOOK..

What a wonderful world... - 05/11/09 12:33 PM
If you're like me, you may not have had a real vacation in some time.    Trust me on this...there's nothing that will bring you back to reality more than a relaxing vacation in a beautiful location.
Forget about bright city lights.   Seek out relaxation and contentment in timeless places where the world drifts by without effort and no one watches the clock.
Here's my vacation photo for the day.   This only one of thousands of beautiful vistas we experienced during our much needed get away.

Yes......  The water really is that blue.
