The Images Painted by Warner Sallman

The Images Painted by Warner Sallman have always captivated me. In fact I find it difficult to find the right words to describe their beauty as they are absolutely the best I have ever seen that depict something so Heavenly that is not from Heaven but have to be inspired by Heaven.

Deciding which I find the most rewarding, for they are all so unique and beautiful in their own way, is not possible.

I have "The Head of Christ" in my home. I purchased it while going through a antique shop after being drawn to it from the other side of the store and I felt compelled to have it, not for any reason other than it made me feel blessed, humbled, reverent, proud because i know him, he is my king, my saviour, and part of my life. Certainly I am not worshiping the image, but every morning and evening it is another reminder of my faith.

I seem to need my faith more and more these days in all aspects of my life, and particularly in real estate. "GOD" seems to be left at home, or some where else, for so many these days.

Which brings to my mind another of Warner Sallman's master pieces, and it is "Christ At Hearts Door". The subject that he had in painting it was taken from Revelation 3:30 "Behold, I stand at the door and knock....

I often think of this one because throughout the day, there are times I can imagine him there knocking at the door to my heart when I am confronted with a decision where I am torn and I try to decide what "God" would want me to do. I often compare my self to that same situation as "God" but for me I am trying to get through life, trying to be a part of the community, or even tring to be a part of the positive efforts in helping fellow REALTORS achieve and make our profession a more positive impact to our community. Some times I feel like I am knocking so hard, but no one is hearing or listening and then I think, "God" has tried also and keeps trying, I will just keep on trying for his sake as well.

My third favorite is "Christ In The Garden" and the depiction of his compelling prayer he prayed during his last hours and one we all need to pray as well, for each other and everyone in the world.

GOD bless you all

The perfect interview questions

I seem to have misplaced the list of the best interview questions for a recruit. Lately ther seems to be more interest in what I am willing to provide than what they are willing to produce.

So I drew a line in the sand (Figure of speech) and said no more. My next question was What are you going to contribute to this organization?

I have decided to hire givers rather than takers. So far it has made a difference.

Does any one else have a suggestion?

What a blessing.

To know that there are others who share the same thoughts.

Some times it gets down right discouraging when you see so much petty going ons. It really gets embarasssing and it hurts our professsion.

But I get real proud when I see others doing things to help those that are less fortunate. We are helping some families that have family members in Iraq plus trying to assist some elderly with transportation needs and we make a point to offer our help when ever we are out and see someone that needs help like if their car will not start, or they need a ride or what ever.

Ir really makes you feel great and it is always appreciated so much.

and we always end our emails with a wish that they have a blessed day.

I pray you all have had a very blessed day.

Lamar

What's Next!

I can remember when you were really some body if you were fortunate enought to have that heavy black phone that you had to dial the number to call someone, of course you probably had to sit and wait till all of the others on the party line was off.

Of course at some point we were watching that big tube called television seeing classic movies at the theaters and the list just keeps growing.

Then one day I decided to get into real estate. Boy did I ever go on a learning curve. Between learning how to look up MLS on the computer to wondering how in the world anyone sold houses using that outdated book was amazing.

And to top that off my first broker was telling all of us that soon we would be able to see homes as if we were standing in the center of the room of a home that could be on the other side of earth and that prophecy soon became true with virtual tours.

And now we are emailing a contract and the official signing of that contract 1,000's of miles away by either the seller or buyer and it comes back to us looking brand new.

Now there is talk of and actual videoing of emails LIVE! Talking into the computer and conversing with one or hundreds at a time as if we were sitting in front of them.

The way we do real estate today still astonishes me and it appears it will continue to for years yet.

Are we not truly blessed to have been able to experience these changes first hand.
