active rain: Active Rain-How Important Are Points, Content, Comments and other things? - 05/13/08 04:11 PM
Active Rain Present and Future -One Member's Perspective
I learned blogging from Active Rain and try to give back what I know. If someone can learn what I did through trial and error,  it could save then a lot of time. Looking at some of these issues is the purpose of this post. I am not as active on Active Rain as I was before my "outside" blog was born. I try to stay connected to the community and the many friends here, by reading the blogs I subscribe to here and outside blogs discussing AR. The other day Jay Thompson's … (80 comments)

active rain: Bloggers Connect - Key Points - 01/13/08 02:15 AM
Bloggers Connect –Readers Digest version of the one day event.Bloggers Connect was part of the Inman Real Estate Connect Conference in New York. All the issues discussed during the workshop have been extensively covered on Active Rain. If you are interested in blogging and have been on the Active Rain forum for a few months, most likely you already read about the technical and other aspects of blogging that were raised at the workshop.
The major point that I took away is that blogging is not science, at least not yet. Even bloggers with experience and recognition as experts have opposing … (37 comments)

active rain: You are cordially invited - 100th post celebration! - 12/21/07 06:17 AM
Princeton real estate blog, I can say without being overly dramatic, has changed my life quite a bit and quietly turned into a passion. What a difference a few months makes.
In August the country of Active Rain, with all its wonderful inhabitants, existed without me ever knowing about it. It was completely off my map, and was quite honestly found by chance. I can’t even think about what it would be like now without it.
Back in August the word blogging was not something I could have provided a definition for, although I set up one on Blogger. It was my … (50 comments)

active rain: Can you be all "blogged- out" about real estate ? - 11/19/07 08:42 PM
My idea for real estate blogging is to provide answers to real estate questions that consumers are asking when buying and selling their homes. My best writing happens when it comes from passion. All of a sudden I find myself in a lull. Could there be a case of being blogged out?  I don’t mean running out of the ideas about what to write – I have these for another year and more. It’s just the passion needs the fuel and I may be running low on that one. When I started blogging on Active rain, the fuel was the learning, then it … (59 comments)

active rain: Holiday balance - A different perspective - 11/14/07 10:16 PM
With the holiday season upon us there are many balancing acts on our minds. Some are trying to balance their work time with their family time, others the desire to offer gifts with the possible financial constraints and others the prospect of being lonely and sad when everyone else is with the family and rejoicing. There is another dimension to this balancing act. It is balancing the general holiday spirit with ones personal and/or religious beliefs.
The wonderful gift of this country to its citizens is that we are all part of the big one – the proverbial melting

With Christmas having taken … (20 comments)

active rain: How to get a 200 point gift - 11/03/07 09:02 AM
Here is my suggestion - write a Victories Recap.I promised myself to celebrate victories, even if they come in small packages. The successes could be small, but they did not come my way easy. That’s why I give myself a gift – writing about them.
I am #1 on Goggle for “Princeton Real Estate Blog”. Hopefully it will turn into business as consumers find out about what’s in it for them in blogs.
I had a closing last week. This deal gave me more stress then any before, and at times I wished it would just go away. Forget the stress, I am … (44 comments)

active rain: Who else wants to be in the New York Times ? - 11/01/07 08:49 AM
It's one little success - being #1 on Google (for Princeton Real Estate Blog). I am sharing this honor with the Active Rain. You may ask what's the big deal?. Have you heard of the expression “Divine Inspiration”? This is apparently how the Bible was transmitted to people – through Divine Inspiration. I actually could never understand exactly what it meant – did the people who wrote the Bible hear God’s voice? My logical mind wanted to know the science of this transmission. This always embarrassed my kids to no end, when I asked these questions of my religious advisers.I am … (26 comments)

active rain: What is Active Rain? - 10/29/07 06:52 PM
This is not a post about guidelines, or how to instructions. There are plenty of those with all kinds of useful advice and help in other places on AR. This post is about trying to understand what AR is for me and why with time it is becoming an important part of my life.
Yesterday I found myself crying, when I read about Bruce Bourgault passing. I have never met the gentleman or even read his post until yesterday. I found myself telling my husband about his life. I never met or talked to Sarah Cooper. I don’t even remember receiving … (58 comments)

active rain: The contest “Have you been inspired by someone else's post to the benefit of your client? “- the results are in - 10/26/07 11:33 PM
The contest “Have you been inspired by someone else's post to the benefit of your client? “  has a winner - Jason Crouch!AR gives us an opportunity to learn and be inspired by other members. The more we learn, the better service we can offer to our clients and in this way AR can be a powerful platform for spreading success.  The contest required identifying a client success story. The challenge of this contest was that the success story had to be inspired by another person’s post on AR. Three outstanding entries came from Katerina Gasset, Adam Waldman and Jason Crouch.Katerina's … (12 comments)

active rain: I am dreaming of a great blog - 10/24/07 05:58 AM

How do we make our blogs interesting to readers? This question is always on my mind when I think of the next topic for my post. Some say “don’t worry, just write what’s on your mind. Blog is like a diary, or a day in the life of…”. My idea is to write about things that are useful to the readers, about what's on my potential clients mind. But how do I know that and how do I judge interest. Does lack of contact from consumers, mean my posts are not interesting, or may be they are just not found?
When it … (27 comments)

active rain: The contest for the AR ideas is on - “Have you been inspired by someone else's post to the benefit of your client? “ - 10/18/07 09:09 AM
The theme for the contest is   - “Have you been inspired by someone else's post to the benefit of your client? “Active Rain has been a unique opportunity for learning, getting inspired by new ideas and for some of us- for generating business.  So, here is a chance to get more inspiration, more new ideas, be rewarded in your business and for all of that to get bonus 500 bonus points.

So, here are the rules:
Write a story about being inspired by someone else’s post to the benefit of your clients. In the story describe the original idea and how you … (20 comments)

active rain: Who else wants to make money on AR? - 10/17/07 05:05 PM

Who else wants to succeed on AR? -would be a more appropriate title.  “Money” is there just in case it better catches someone’s attention. What I have in mind isn’t really so much about money, as about making clients’ dreams fulfilled, through finding an idea on AR and putting it into action.
Something happened a few days ago that made me examine the power of AR once again. I wrote a post  “Who else wants a miracle to sell a house?”. In it I shared my recent experience of resurrecting a “dead” deal and how it allowed two families to achieve … (32 comments)

active rain: Active Rain Inspiration- It's People - 09/16/07 07:51 PM

The great thing about AR is that I get inspired. My last inspiration came at 12am last night via a call from Gena Reide. Gena called to ask if I had any questions about AR or needed any help.
