marketing: Info on me shows up on ALL TEN of the free search results on Google page ONE! - 09/10/09 08:11 AM
I regularly check my status on Google by searching using the words virtually all my clients tell me they use when searching for a notary in my town. That's how I know which of my marketing chores are giving me the biggest bang for my buck. This morning, I entered these words for a google search to check my rating on my new website: Info on me shows up on ALL TEN of the free search results on Google page one! Snaps to me! My AR profile is first, of course. Then my Merchant Circle listing. My website is third.

marketing: I put up a new website with new domain name yesterday. Today it's at the top two results on Google page one. - 09/05/09 10:28 AM
Hi, Colleagues I offer some legal secretary services in addition to notary work. I learned how to do these things while I managed a law firm in California for ten years. Plus I have taken additional seminars after moving to WA. I wanted to create a new website in addition to my notary one to highlight these other services. I finally created enough text to publish the first version of the site yesterday. (I have more info to write up and add to the site as I find the time.) Then I immediately listed the url on the various websites where

marketing: Marketing tip: get your address found by Google Maps - 01/31/08 11:11 AM
I notarized a Will/POA/Living Will package for a couple yesterday. I love these because witnesses mean lots of signatures to notarize and 4 people I must administer oaths to. ($160 cash on the spot and they came to me) I always ask new clients how they found me. They used a way no one had said before: Google Maps. They entered their address into http://maps.google.comThen they hit the "business" button and entered the word notary. I did a search and saw that the information came up in the format I used when I entered my info on Yahoo yellow pages. Yahoo and other online phone

marketing: Using Google alerts to stay on top of news relevant to notaries - 12/24/07 01:11 PM
Michelle Riley of Huntsville Mobile Notary in Alabama is a member of our group but rarely has time to post. She is a mobile notary, notary signing agent, RN, and a student studying for yet another college degree - this time in Communication. She is top professional and a gracious woman. Michelle has had great success using Google Alerts to hear the latest news relevant to our notary businesses. When Domestic Partnership registration became legal in my state of WA (a great new source of work for notaries), Michelle found out about the same day I did. And I live here! I asked Michele to share her Google tips with

marketing: Core of successful marketing for general notary work (non-loan work) - 12/07/07 07:08 PM
The core of successful marketing for general notary public work is all about:*Knowing what services you can provide - the types of notarizations you can do.*Creating a clear profile of your target market and then carefully studying your demographics to learn where those people live, work, volunteer, and play.Part of creating the profile of your target market will include watching the behavior of what they do when they need a notary for loans, vehicle titles - - whatever services they need that you want to offer. Where does your target market look for a notary? Who do they ask for a referral?

marketing: Notaries: Information you must include on your website and profiles - 10/03/07 07:34 PM
When my terrific loan originators have a signing outside my coverage area, I always locate an experienced notary for them because if I don't the TC sends them a cheap newbie. Finding a good NSA helps me because the practice is good for client (LO) loyalty. Plus I give the notary some tips about the work as a professional courtesy. Yesterday I searched for a NSA experienced with Reverse Mortgages in Seattle. Should be easy, eh? It wasn't. First I searched Google thinking I would find several experienced business-savvy notaries that way. I used exactly these keywords: +"reverse mortgage" +seattle +notary I got zero notary websites. There was ONE CraigsList posting. I happily clicked

marketing: 3 tips for notaries doing Reverse Mortgage signings - 08/24/07 04:19 PM
1. Know your state's regulations on notarization using Signature by Mark. This is used when the borrower cannot sign her/his name but can only make a mark. (One gal I worked with held the pen with her teeth.) Most title companies are not familiar with Signature by Mark so I always enclose a copy of my state's regulation in the signed return package to them. 2. Know your state's regulations regarding the recording of Power of Attorney. My state requires that any Power of Attorney to be used for real estate papers must be recorded at the courthouse before the date of

marketing: How to write a press release that gets YOU in the news - 08/23/07 11:01 PM
Editors of periodicals, radio stations, and TV news channels get hundreds if not thousands of emailed press releases every day. There are 3 rules you must absolutely follow if you want them to read your press releases and publish your news item. 1. Use correct formatting. See the bottom of this article for that information. 2. Never send a press release that will be read on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, or the day after a holiday. 3. Write an eyeball-grabbing headline. The headline is also the subject line of the emailed press release. Following Rule 3 is harder than you think. Not only does the headline have

marketing: Forms of payment for non-loan notary work - some considerations - 08/07/07 12:32 PM
My thoughts on acceptable forms of payment for general (non-loan) notary work. When I did loan work, I got very tired of waiting weeks or months to be paid. The TCs sat on my money, earning interest, while they made me wait. I no longer tolerate that. CASH In my state, notaries are required to quote our travel fees before we accept the assignment. When I do this, I just tell them I accept payment in cash only. Once in a great while, someone will forget to get cash. If they live/work in my town and are dressed nicely, I will accept a check. Otherwise I

marketing: How to reduce spam email - 07/19/07 09:27 PM
A non-techie solution to reducing email spam You plastered your email address all over the internet. Good for you. Your clients can easily find you online. But.... bummer. You are getting tons of spam. What you can do: How the spammer jerks get your email address Evil people use evil software called Harvesters. To gather email addresses, evil people enter specific information into the program and then hit Go. People who want notaries to buy stuff from them would specify the word Notary. They could also specify other details, like California, CA, listing, journal, stamp, certificate, loans, real, estate, property, home, house, county name, etc. When
