Proposed 2015 Markham Pan Am Centre Unveiled
The Town of Markham and the Pan Am 2015 Games Committee held the first official unveiling of the proposed 2015 Pan Am Games facility in Markam on February 16, 2012.
The facility is proposed to be 142,000 square feet and construction is expected to commence in July 2012 and completed in 2014. It will be located at 16 Main Street Unionville South, just south of Highway 7 on a 13 acre property. 2012 Markham Budget - 1.5% Tax Rate Increase
The Town of Markham has announced that Markham Council has approved its 2012 Budget with a 1.5% tax rate increase which is below the current rate of inflation of 2.3%.
Markham had a zero tax rate increase in 2009, 2010 and 2011. It was the only municipality in the Greater Toronto Area with such an achievement.
A number of important and exciting improvements are being made to the infrastructure and services in Markham in 2012.

The 2012 Markham Spring Homeshow will be held at the Markham Fairgrounds (northeast corner of McCowan Road and Elgin Mills Road) on March 2, 3 and 4, 2012.
Hours of operation are: Friday (1 pm to 9 pm); Saturday (10 am - 6 pm), Sunday (11 am to 5 pm).
Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for seniors. Children and parking are free.

The Regional Municipality of York is providing FREE transit service to riders who use any York Region Transit ("YRT") or VIVA route in York Region from Saturday, February 4, 2012 to Saturday, March 31, 2012.
The free transit offer is intented to benefits anyone who was affected during the labour dispute and strike that affected the bus services over the past few months.

York Region Transit / VIVA strike is over
The York Region Transit and VIVA bus strike is over. Some routes went back in service on Saturday, February 4, 2012 while most are back in service today (Monday, February 6, 2012). A small number of routes go back in Service on Sunday February 26, 2012 and Monday February 27, 2012.
See www.yrt.ca for the the latest schedule updates. As of Monday, February 6, 2012, 96 percent of TRT / VIVA customers will have a route available to them, including all school special bus routes.

Summer is rapidly approaching and winter has not felt like winter this year. In fact, it feels very much like spring.
Camp Expo bills itself as Canada's largest summer camp expo. Approximately 50 summer camps will be exhibiting at the expo. The expo is being held on February 26, 2012 from 12 noon to 4 pm at Roy Thompson Hall in downtown Toronto.
