Tonight, just before 11:30 pm EDT, local Markham, Ontario resident Lloyd Robertson, age 77,  signed off as the news anchor of CTV National News after a 35 year run as news anchor with CTV, one of Canada's national private television networks.   From 1976 to 1984, Lloyd co-anchored the national news with Harvey Kirck and then became sole anchor in 1984.  Immediately prior to his final newscast, CTV aired a one hour program about Lloyd Robertson's life, which was very interesting.

The Markham Environmental Sustainability Fund is a program operated by the Town of Markham in Ontario, Canada that provides funding for innovative and leading environmental initiatives that contribute to the health of the natural environment.
There are currently two application and funding cycles each year.  The fall 2011 funding application deadline is Tuesday, September 6, 2011.  The Town of Markham website has a webpage that explains the program including application process and eligibility guidance.  It also provides examples of prior projects that have been funded.

Reesor Road closed until early November 2011
Reesor Road, in Markham, Ontario is closed for construction purposes between Steeles Avenue East and 14th Avenue from late July 2011 until approximately November 1, 2011.  During the closure, alternative routes need to be considered.  Note that 14th Avenue is also closed from Reesor Road to Box Grove ByPass until January 2012.
I have noticed that the new traffic lights have just been installed at Ninth Line and Steeles Avenue East.  Hopefully, the lights will become operational within the next few days.  This will help traffic turning onto either street and will help tremendously … (3 comments)

From time to time, school buses operated on behalf of the York Region District School Board or the York Catholic District School Board are late in the morning or the afternoon.
Student Transportation Services, which is a collaborative venture of both school boards, maintains a page on its website where school bus companies are required to report school buses that are running late.
