VIVA Transit to start charging fares on April 1, 2012
The free fares that VIVA Transit was offering to riders for the past two months ended on March 31, 2012. The free fares were offered as compensation due to the preceeding three month strike.
Effective April 1, 2012, riders will need to begin paying VIVA Transit fares.
Fares went up on January 1, 2012 and can be seen at www.yrt.ca.

York Region Transit and VIVA are making changes to many of bus route schedules effective Tuesday, September 6, 2011.
Make sure that you have the latest information regarding how any changes will affect you.

Easter Monday 2011 Schedule - York Region Transit and VIVA
York Region Transit ("YRT"), VIVA services and Toronto Transit Commission ("TTC") buses that operate in York Region, including Markham, Ontario, will be operating on their regular Monday schedule on Easter Monday (Monday, April 25, 2011).

York Region Transit (YRT) / VIVA strike suspended for February 21, 2011
Previously, I had advised about the planned York Region Transit / VIVA strike that would affect part of the transit system starting on February 21, 2011 (see activerain.com/blogsview/2147221/transit-strike-in-york-region-to-start-on-tuesday-february-21-2011).
According to the latest update, the planned strike has been suspended. Union members will be voting on a deal in the near future. This is the second time in the past week that a planned strike has been averted.
Therefore, all YRT / VIVA services will continue to operate on regular schedules.

York Region Transit / YRT bus route schedules to be changed on February 27, 2011
York Region Transit has announced that it will be making changes to the schedules of more than 40 bus routes on YRT and VIVA in York Region on February 27, 2011.
Transit users should review their bus route schedules to determine whether their routes are affected. In many cases, buses are scheduled to come less frequently. In some cases, there are cancellations or reductions of service at certain times of the day.
