After a stretch that saw Pitt Meadows dominate the AAA north basketball league for more than a month, the Pitt Meadows Marauders Air Force finally lost a basketball game to archrival and host team Vancouver College Fighting Irish in the championship game of the Emerald Tournament on Saturday. But before dropping the final basketball game, Pitt Meadows broke a school record for consecutive wins with its 16th, defeating ninth-ranked Sir Charles Tupper 83-62 Friday. A sharp drop in traffic along Old Dewdney Trunk Road in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows since two new bridges opened negates the need for a new east-west connector, says a farmer who lives along the stretch. The City of Pitt Meadows' application to take land out of the reserve for the North Lougheed Connector remains before the agricultural lands commission, awaiting approval.
