Feng Shui is more then 'furniture arrangement.' To its core Feng Shui is a spiritual practice. These teachings are estimated to be around 4,000 years old. What does it mean to have a "commanding position" in Feng Shui? Having a commanding position in Feng Shui takes on a literal and metaphysical meaning. In a nutshell it symbolizes you as a human and spiritual being seeing opportunity clearly as it presents its self to you.
