los angeles california: Roy Lichtenstein at the Skirtball Cultural Center in California - 10/21/16 07:41 AM
Roy Lichtenstein was one of the first American Pop artists to achieve widespread renown, and he became a lightning rod for criticism of the movement. In His early work ranged widely in style and subject matter, and displayed a considerable understanding of modernist painting: Lichtenstein would often maintain that he was as interested in the abstract qualities of his images as he was in their subject matter.

los angeles california: Ancients Times Had Their Own "Feng Shui" Consultants - 09/17/16 01:12 AM

During my tip in California, I visited the LACMA in Los Angeles and came across this beautiful piece of art. It made me chuckle a bit inside because the description read as followed, "This is a relief of an eagle-headed god, engaged in a ritual to expel sickness and negative spirits form the house: the figure possibly had the function of purifying anyone entering into the King's living room."
Even during those times they had their version of Feng Shui Consultants ;)

los angeles california: Organize Your Strip Mall's Layout Design To Flow With Ease - 11/03/15 11:31 PM
The other day I treated myself to Sushi in Los Angeles, California. Driving to the location was not a problem, yet navigating through the strip mall became a bit challenging.

The strip mall had some interesting design features while at the same time the layout felt and looked confusing. The names and address numbers of the businesses throughout the mall were concealed by various plants, except for the Banquet and Conference Center sign. The restaurant I was looking for was not even located within the main portion of the mall, it was along the perimeter. Even navigating how to go up and down each level reach was a bit deceiving.

Learning from this … (3 comments)

Exploring California: Thien Hau Temple (Chinatown L.A.)

The Los Angeles based temple is a blend between Chinese and Vietnamese heritage and beliefs. This is a Taoist temple in Los Angelese Chinatown, it is a popular site for worship and tourism. Thien Hau Temple is dedicated to Mazu, the Taoist goddess of the sea and patron saint to sailors, fishermen and to those who cultures are associated with the sea.
Offerings to the Goddesses and Gods
This was a beautiful site to see. Throughout the temple there were various trees that held numerous intentions. Some intentions were for family, self, while others were for humanity and peace.
