real estate: My CLIENT Just Saved Me $1,000!! by Feng Shui Long Island & New York City - 07/01/08 10:59 PM
And she doesn't even KNOW it, yet! I am so grateful that I go on to become true friends with so many of my clients and this particular one is no exception. About two months ago I did a Feng Shui Consultation at her beautiful home in lovely Long Island, New York. It is a very upscale town and the homes are spectacular. My client wanted to focus first on career. Having left her old position (and accumulating several degrees in the interim), she felt that she would like to return to work. It is a very specialized field and I'd

real estate: There's nothing Nicer then these Emails: In Feng Shui AND REAL ESTATE! - 06/29/07 01:40 AM
There IS nothing nicer then getting a call or email from anyone you are working with to thank you and let you know that what you did helped them. It's even nicer when it's from an Activerain Realtorwho had found me and contacted me about Feng Shui. I am not going to reveal who this person is, that would be entirely up to them but I did get a contact from Activerain from someone who had stumbled on one of my posts on Feng Shui and we spoke on the phone. She had already taken Suzee Miller's online course on Feng Shui

real estate: How many Homes do you REMEMBER? A common thread for Activerainers Feng Shui Long Island - 06/05/07 07:17 PM
I received a call today which got me thinking. There is a common thread between all people on Activerain and that is the obvious; we are in and out of people's homes. Over and over again, year after year. The call was from a client I had done last summer and he didn't remember or have in his notes the color I had suggested for the office he was going to convert from a bedroom that was no longer needed. I wondered how I could possibly remember that and stopped and thought. When I am in homes, I study them. For different

real estate: Did you Choose your Profession? Or did IT choose YOU?? How many of you can say you LOVE what you Do? - 05/21/07 09:04 PM
Many of us I believe from reading the wonderful MEME'sthat are posted have had many career changes during their lifetimes. While some have had more then others, being on the Activerain Community has made me wonder if you truly LOVED the work you are doing now? It is something you fell into or is it something, perhaps without reason, that you felt DRAWN to and decided to pursue? Despite the difficulties you have encountered (or are Still encountering), you know and feel THIS is what you were meant to do? Or is it a "stepping stone" to something that moves you closer

real estate: A NIGHTMARE Home to Some? She's going to LOVE it when it's finished. - 05/12/07 10:19 PM
I had a recent contact from someone in Parsippany, New Jersey. I was a bit surprised because I primarily target the New York City and Long Island area and explained that I don't travel to New Jersey. This lovely person was a referral and had heard about me; while speaking to her and hearing what she'd gone through in her home, I finally relented and agreed to go. I couldn't have asked to meet a more lovely person who had been beset by problems since she moved into this house. She is an accomplished designer, a genuine person---and a first time homeowner.

real estate: Some Feng Shui Advice for that Diverse Market: by Your Feng Shui Long Island Consultant - 04/06/07 10:56 AM
This was originally posted months ago. I know there has been some questions lately regarding Feng Shui and a Diverse Market and thought I would repost this in case it was overlooked. I know that many Agents are having a somewhat difficult time with the diversity of clients they are getting. When targeting to a diverse market, both Asians and people of Indian Culture (where it is called Vaastu) are looking for different things. Feng Shui is a broad area, but here's a few tips to get them IN the front door: The FRONT door, in many cultures, is considered the "Mouth of

real estate: Getting PERSONAL with your Clients - 04/03/07 09:04 PM
I am in the "People" business. Yes, I deal with homes and businesses all the time but it didn't take me long to learn it's more about the people. How personal do you get with a client? While putting on our "professional" best, is it ok to let them see another side of you? I will relate somewhat personal stories to clients if I have something to share. It creates a bond---and a lasting memory of you. A recent example of this was at a clients home when they were deciding whether or not to list with an Agency or try to sell the house themselves.

real estate: Home Stagers---Are you thinking LARGE enough? - 04/01/07 02:35 PM
Years ago in Feng Shui, I remember feeling thrilled if I were called in to do two or three homes in a month...it was unheard of! No one imagined, back then, the impact it would take on. In thinking of the aspects of Home Staging and seeing so many of the beautiful websites you have with terrific Before and After pictures, I wondered if you were thinking LARGE enough? I don't recall seeing on the sites anything about DESIGN SERVICES for Businesses. I know you're not Interior Designers but many businesses and even Corporations may not be looking for that. Just someone

real estate: A Homeowner's "Love Story" - 03/29/07 12:16 AM
Whenever I go to someone's home, I ask them if they know anything about the history of the house. This is a story that a client told me not long ago and I thought it was worth sharing: A married couple were looking for a home. They each had different priorities on what were important to them as is the usual case. For the wife, it was a big kitchen because she loved to cook. The husband HAD to have a garage. Usual things that a couple are likely to be looking for. The Real Estate Agent they were working with had taken

real estate: Long Ago Long Island, New York--Revisit the Year 1961 - 03/23/07 10:25 PM
Just several weeks ago I was fortunate to have been sent some pictures of Wantagh, Long Island, New York; it's the town I was raised in. My memories of growing up here are wonderful and the pictures reminded me of a long ago time there. When traffic wasn't crazy, there was room to BREATHE, the doors weren't locked and all the neighbors not only knew each other, but got together once a week for card parties and barbeques! I am only 15 minutes away from there now, but my mother still lives there in the same house. A house I believe she paid $12,200

real estate: The Secret, Part Two---Yes, there are other "Secrets" - 03/09/07 07:27 PM
Having watched Larry King last night, it was interesting to hear the critics of "The Secret," the motivational DVD of the century. Don't rely on it, you were warned. Many of us have for years and found out, it WORKS. There are so many misconceptions about Feng Shui (and we work using the "secrets,") I thought I'd try to clear some up. What does the secret teach you? That you can have a life of prosperity and abundance in all areas, by setting Intentions, sending out good Energy and believing that it works. You must take actions as well

real estate: Home Staging with Feng Shui and Style - 10/26/06 07:16 PM
Hi! I have found that many Feng Shui Principles are used in Home Staging and things Feng Shui Consultants have been doing for years with the "buzz" words of Home Staging, Home Redesign and Curb Appeal. One example is Home Stagers will open the blinds for a light and airy feeling. We see it as letting the "outside energy" in. Or clearing a path to the front door and making sure the door is well groomed. In Feng Shui, the front door is the "Mouth of Chi" and the pathway to it and the entranceway are always addressed. We re-arrange the furniture
