Rotary Club of Ashland Oregon Has Some Incredible Youth Exchange Students! - 05/21/09 12:36 PM
One of the many amazing community programs the Rotary Club of Ashland Oregon has is the sponsorship of inbound and outbound youth exchange students. The community support that has gone in to this amazing life experience the participating foreign exchange students have is truly incredible, from the families that house them to the schools that teach them. For each incoming exchange student, three Host families step up to the plate and give the student a home during their stay here, sharing themselves, their homes, family and friends with these students.

Beware, Oregon Contractors - Scammers are Targeting you! - 05/14/09 06:02 PM
The Oregon Remodelers Association recently contacted our local HomeBuilders Association of Jackson County to let them know there are scammers afoot, contacting Oregon Contractors with the following:
"We have received information from the CCB and the Oregon Dept. of Justice regarding a possible scam directed at contractors in which a caller represents to Oregon contractors and firms that those firms have been pre-qualified to receive federal stimulus moneys if the firms will fork over to the caller a significant sum of money. The caller even represents that the target contractor is eligible to receive a specified amount of the federal money … (5 comments)

Coming soon (or Maybe!) – Eligible FHA Buyers May Obtain the Economic Stimulus Tax Credit at Closing and Apply It to Their Down Payment? - 05/13/09 03:17 PM
That's right, you read that correctly! Secretary Donovan of the U.S. Department of H.U.D. announced that the Federal Housing Administration is going to allow lenders to do a form of "bridge loan" for the up to $8,000 tax credit so that FHA buyers may use these funds toward their down payment instead of waiting until they file their income tax return to get a refund.

A Mother’s Day To Remember - 05/13/09 08:10 AM
I am so grateful about so many things in my life, but it is on a day like Mother's Day that it comes to the fore how much joy a child can bring. My husband was at a Home Show in Yreka CA near the majestic Mount Shasta on Mother's Day, so I spent some time deliberating over what I could do with our daughter who still lives at home to make Mother's Day special with just the two of us. Note To President Obama/Senate Banking Committee – It appears Not Everyone Is Onboard With The Home Affordable Programs - 05/08/09 05:15 PM
Here it is a month after the Home Affordable Programs got up and running. Well, more like a week, since many lenders did not come out with the pricing on the Fannie Mae DU Refi Plus until within the past couple of weeks, and only a few are coming out with the Freddie Mac Relief Refinance pricing.
Here are some discoveries/experiences I've encountered.
On Home Affordable Refinance:
Private Mortgage Insurance Companiesare restricting the transfer of their mortgage insurance policies to the existing lender/servicer only, eliminating the homeowners' opportunity to shop for their pricing and eliminating competition.

Have You Heard Of HR758 Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act? - 05/06/09 04:17 PM
I needed to take my attention away from the myriad of issues in the mortgage business, and focus on something else for a short while. Like the Breast Cancer Patient Protection act, H.R. 758. This bill has been introduced in to every U.S. Congress session since 1997, and each time, is referred out for committees to investigate.
I don't know about you, but I have personal acquaintances/loved ones who have experiences the effects of being discharged from the hospital after a mastectomy operation, people who were not capable of caring for themselves, and who NEVER SHOULD HAVER BEEN DISCHARGED with drainage … (2 comments)

Rogue Valley Youth Choruses took Spring from the Air and Brought It To Our Hearts - 05/05/09 01:47 PM
The Rogue Valley Youth Choruses performed Thursday at the Rogue Valley Manor, Saturday at the Ginger Rogers Craterian Theatre, and Monday at South Medford High. These performances were the culmination of all the hard work of the singers, the Directors, Rehearsal Assistants and Accompanists, and were their treat to the Southern Oregon Community who were able to see these final performances of the 2008-2009 Season.
From the 3rd graders in the Discovery Chorus...

Thank God It’s Friday – Especially for Several First Time Southern Oregon Homeowners - 05/01/09 09:45 PM
Hmmmm...I hear about $8,000 tax credits, people buying who are paying the same as they were paying in rent who said they only had to come up with about $1,500, or for some a 3.5% down payment. I'd really like to have my own place, a place where I will build equity instead of just writing a rent check every month a rent check that seems to go up every year. A place I can paint whatever color I want. I'm tired of having to move because my landlord sold the place, or is losing it through foreclosure, and what about … (2 comments)
