rotary club of ashland: Rotary Club of Ashland Oregon Has Some Incredible Youth Exchange Students! - 05/21/09 12:36 PM
One of the many amazing community programs the Rotary Club of Ashland Oregon has is the sponsorship of inbound and outbound youth exchange students. The community support that has gone in to this amazing life experience the participating foreign exchange students have is truly incredible, from the families that house them to the schools that teach them. For each incoming exchange student, three Host families step up to the plate and give the student a home during their stay here, sharing themselves, their homes, family and friends with these students. The Rotary Club of Ashland's inbound student this year (2008-2009)

While reading about the World Health Organization data reflecting U.S. life expectancy has surpassed 78 years for the first time, and I was reminded of one of the many reasons my family and I relocated to Southern Oregon in 2004, educational opportunities for children and adults. At this week's Rotary Club of Ashland meeting, the key speaker addressed this topic. Bernie Hartman of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute gave a presentation on a wonderfully enriching program available to Southern Oregon residents of approximately 55+ years of age. Starting out in Ashland, Oregon, participation in the courses has grown by leaps and bounds, and the organization

rotary club of ashland: Rotary Club of Ashland Speaker Discusses Oregon Economy - 03/14/08 02:27 PM
At this Thursday's Rotary Club of Ashland Meeting, guest speakerDr. Tom Potiowsky, the Oregon State Economist, spoke about the effects the national economy will have on the Oregon economy. Dr. Potiowsky emphasized the affect the housing market has had on the wood products and construction industry, and although Oregon's economy will be affected by what is happening nationally, any possible recession will likely be much milder here, and it would be more like what Oregon experienced in 1990-1991 versus the double dip of 2001 if a recession does indeed develop. As with the varying opinions of the economists on whether or not
