There was an article last week in our local paper, the Mail Tribune, that talked about Earth Advantage and Countrywide Home Loans joining together to offer a reduced interest rate to their homeowners who wish to build their homes to Energy Star®, Earth Advantage® or L.E.E.D. standards, with their project being certified by an independent third party, Earth Advantage®. I've contacted my Countrywide Rep to verify the specifics of this agreement, and to see if they will be making this program available to us on their B2B side, but have not yet heard back from them. "Going Green" has been pretty painless for us so far, although long journeys in the hybrid are sometimes a challenge. We're happy knowing the products we have been replacing meet the 2008 Oregon Residential Energy Standards, even though we already changed out our windows and doors in 2005-2006 long before these new standards came to be. We have used all tax credits and rebates we are eligible for, helping offset some of the costs associated with these changes. With our winter heating bills 40% lower than they were before making the changes, the air flow we have in the house spring/summer/fall,

Oregon's First Utility Independent Housing Development AND Affordable Housing in Ashland Oregon?!?! The City of Ashlandhas approved a proposed development on the Ashland Greenhouses land owned by Greg and Valri Williams and their family for more than 100 years. There are 68 units proposed for this project, Verde Village, that will not only be South facing to gain the maximum sun exposure for the solar hot water heaters and photo voltaic systems on the roof of these homes, but these units as proposed will be fully utility independent with cisterns to catch rainwater off roofs, heavy insulation and bioswales and wetlands to
