Monday Morning Motivator... This year... Mend a quarrel. Seek out a forgotten friend. Write a love letter. Share some treasure. Give a soft answer. Encourage a youth. Keep a promise. Find the Time. Forgive an enemy. Listen!!! Apologise if you are wrong. Think of someone else FIRST! Be kind and gentle. Laugh a little. Laugh a little more. Express your gratitude. Gladden the heart of a child. Take pleasure in beauty and wonder. Speak your love. Speak it again. Speak it still once again. ~~ Unknown Here's wishing all my Rowdy ActiveRain Friends a A Safe & Prosperous New Year Follow (17 comments)
Christmas Is Over, But the Eye Candy Isn't... - 12/27/08 09:08 AM
Christmas is my favorite time of the year. I really enjoy driving around the neighborhoods looking at all the eye candy. The brightly lit houses, dazzling colors, can bring out the kid in anyone. Even though Christmas has passed, I still enjoy going around and looking at the Christmas lights in the neighborhoods in my area. Here are a few pix I wanted to share. Hope you enjoy...

Tips for Better Night Photography... - 12/23/08 08:00 AM
If any of you are like me, I find night photography both challenging and rewarding. It is one of the aspects of digital photography where the automatic or program settings often do not get desired results. Knowing your camera and how to use manual settings is a must. Unless you have some glass will very low f-stop, a tripod and using shutter priority is a must. Bracket your shots by increasing or decreasing your shutter speed by a third of a second. You will be amazed at the difference this can make. Remember, digital film is cheap, Good photo's are priceless... (17 comments)

Monday Morning Motivator... 'Now' is the operative word. Everything you put in your way is just a method of putting off the hour when you could actually be doing your dream. You don't need endless time and perfect conditions. Do it now. Do it today. Do it for twenty minutes and watch your heart start beating. ~~ Barbara Sher Peal picture description

Perfect in Every Way... - 12/21/08 05:32 AM
We home inspectors seem to get a bum wrap. We often get rebuked as being too picky, picky, picky and that we are constantly finding fault with stuff (real technical term here), making work much harder for real estate agents. Well, we ain't ALL that picky, there a few houses that I cannot find fault with. Yesterday, the grand kids built this house and naturally, since it was going to be sold, they wanted it inspected. I must say, that it is one of the best constructed houses that I have ever seen. Perfect in every way... What do you (17 comments)
Just Because Everyone Else Does It, Doesn't Make It Right... - 12/21/08 02:38 AM
Remember when you were a kid and wanted to do something that you kinda sorta knew was wrong, and you went to your parents to ask for permission to do it? Generally, after a disappointing response,"NO!" you often sparked some rebuttal or rebuke of the reply with, "But, all the other kids are doing it...". Not that it changed the outcome of your parent's decision, but you certainly let your opinion be known. Well, the same often holds true during construction especially on some of the older properties that are undergoing rehabilitation for resale purposes. Concrete blocks laid on bare (24 comments)

Crawl spaces... The final frontier. These are the adventures of the fearless home inspectors that boldly go were no real estate agent and very few home owners venture. Kinda sounds the beginning of a "Star Trek" episode doesn't it? Well, crawl spaces are the most neglected area of a home and also where most of the problems concerning real estate transactions are found. There are several things wrong in just this one picture How many of them can you spot? Obviously, the mess left behind is the most blatant error. Acceptable trade practices calls for all construction debris especially wood (10 comments)

Bein's as it ain't too busy this time of year, I was kicked back with my buddy Bubba, chewin' the fat an all when we get a call from the ol' fat man himself. As we all know, it's been a year since the reindeer have been taken out for a test flight and all, and one of the elves had just a wee bit too much cheer and lost control of the sleigh as seen at the scene when me and Bubba got there anyhow... Are You Trying to Purchase A Mercedes for the Price of a Hyundai? - 12/09/08 08:11 AM
Invariably, I get several calls a week from potential clients asking, "What do you charge for a home inspection?" What seems like a logical question to ask, when you look into the logistics of what goes into a property inspection, the question may not so be so logical after all.
As a home buyer, you are looking at a mortgage payment of several hundred if not thousands of dollars a month. You are going to be paying on this property for a long, long time. What is the knowledge of a good home inspector worth? As independent businessmen who (16 comments)

In Search of a Better Video Hosting Site - Blip.TV... - 12/04/08 10:00 AM
As I stated in an earlier post about wanting to stay on the on the bleeding edge of technology, I have been searching for a better source of video streaming other than the infamous You Tube. Although You Tube is great at some things, the down side is that when finished playing your video, the format is to want to show viewers similar videos. Which is okay, but not if you just want your video shown. Enter Blip.TV To make a short story long, I am doing some experimenting with different free video hosting services.
