active rain: 59 and Counting... - 03/11/13 08:52 AM
59 and Counting...

A million anything is a lot. A million ActiveRain points says you're one dedicated blogger.
I can remember when Todd Clark became the first million pointer and was the proud recipient of the MM badge. Then came Lenn and then others. At one point, it seemed a toss-up as to who would cross the million point line first. The rest is ActiveRain History.
Currently, there are 59 millionaires here in the Rain. Every one of them is a tribute to this platform and should be congratulated for all their loyalty and work.

active rain: That Wasn't Meant to Happen... - 10/26/11 11:02 PM
That Wasn't Meant to Happen...     Nothing below the Heavens is perfect; especially, on this whiling orb traversing through the vast cosmos. But one would hope that in our tech savvy world, some things would occasionally work as expected.      My gripe? One would think that at 3 or 4AM the servers for this platform would fly - No traffic, no usage, no nothing. Instead, server errors, slow responses, links that take minutes to load...      <sigh> I really like ActiveRain and the folks who frequent this platform. But for me, time is my most valuable commodity and I can ill afford … (54 comments)

active rain: Good Night Active Rain - 11/19/10 12:41 PM
Good Night ActiveRain...'Tis the end of the day and my work is done; I was lucky, and got to watch the fiery sky from yet another setting sun. After all the trials, stress, pain and struggles to make it through the day; I thank God for rest, peace and relaxation. Tomorrow, the rat race starts anew; But for now, I welcome rest. So I bid you adieu.

active rain: Inching Ever Closer... - 11/18/10 10:30 PM
Inching Ever Closer...Once again my ActiveRain friends, we are on the verge of making ActiveRain history. Slowly but surely, we are inching ever closer to the 2 millionth post. Who wudda thunk it?Going into the "Way-Back Machine":     Jay Thompson, was credited with writing the first "official" ActiveRain post on 25 June 2006, entitled, "Blast the Bubble." Sadly, all of Jay's posts and this piece of ActiveRain history are lost.     On 25 March 2009, Brandon Farmer of Charlotte, NC penned and submitted the 1 millionth post - "Charlotte's Positive Market Indicators". I remember watching with excited anticipation as the numbers increased … (35 comments)

active rain: Multitasking ~ ActiveRain Style... - 11/15/10 09:55 PM
Multitasking ~ ActiveRain Style...Unless you are living on another planet or still stuck on dial-up <sigh>, you have undoubtedly noticed the server slowdown and the increase in proxy errors over the past few weeks. Like me, many of you can only allot so much time to social media and ActiveRain. Then it is off to work either in or on your business. Between commenting, reading and posting, you are probably like me and earmark 1-2 hours as part of your marketing routine. 1 hour can quicky expand into 1-1/2 with slow server responses and leave you feeling frustrated. The solution? Multitask … (37 comments)

active rain: Reaching Out in the Rain... - 09/02/10 12:35 AM
Reaching Out in the Rain...It is always great to reach out and meet new faces here in the rain. Yesterday, I had lunch with fellow ActiveRain member Matthew Caulk Missy Caulk's son. Matthew has launched his real estate career in the Nashville, TN area and is affiliated with Village Real Estate Services. It's great to have face-2-face get-togethers with new folks. But it is always better when the face-2-face meeting is with a member of ActiveRain. I don't know about you, but I find that when I do meet an ActiveRain member, it is like meeting an old friend.  As part … (33 comments)

active rain: Asleep at the Wheel... - 08/03/10 04:40 AM
Asleep at the Wheel...     Hello? Anybody there?          Hey You! You behind the god console. You awake? Did you decide to take the day off? Have you fallen asleep at the wheel??? Perhaps there's nothing worth featuring. C'mon, there's gotta be something interesting that some poor soul wrote somewhere. Maybe the "Suggest" button is broken. Yeah! That's it! No one is calling the shots!!!           In case you haven't noticed, either the featured blogroll isn't working or the gods have taken a siesta. H-m-m-m, and here I thought that they rested on a different day. Goes to show you what … (20 comments)

active rain: The ActiveRain Monthly Market Report... - 07/31/10 11:57 PM
The ActiveRain Monthly Market Report...     Market reports. Oh how I ♡ to see market reports scroll down the blogroll. The threshold of excitement is ~~~ just ~~~ <sigh> Words can ere express. It's not every day that a home inspector has an opportunity to write about the cronology of what's happening in the "local market", but here is an accounting of the ActiveRain stats.      ActiveRain logged about 52,936 posts last month averaging 1,708 per day      Approximately 2,310 new members were added for an average of about 75 per day      We had 4 days were the daily post total … (16 comments)

active rain: We Finally Meet... - 03/21/10 01:07 AM
Nothing is more fun and exciting than meeting another ActiveRainer in person. Although not a stranger, as one gets to know the other while reading their posts, but seeing them live and in-person is another story. Such was the case when I got an opportunity to meet Roland Woodworth last night at the Mid-South Exit Awards Convention in Murfreesboro, TN.            It was great to meet another blogger at a function other than a blogging convention. Although, they are cool places to network and learn about blogging, awards functions are great places to learn about the other person.       … (13 comments)

active rain: Blogging From Your Smart Phone... - 03/04/10 03:52 AM
Blogging From Your Smart Phone...
As the busy real estate season starts to unfurl, ActiveRainaholics have the dilemma, how do I juggle my time between blogging and servicing my clients? Wonder no more. Smart phones to the rescue...
With iPhones, Droids and other smart phones now having descent browsing capabilities, the key is write when you have the time, save as a draft, and post at a later time.
To prove my theory, I wrote We Don't Need a Home Inspection earlier this morning. While waiting for my clients to arrive at the inspection, I pulled … (29 comments)

active rain: Inserting your You Tube Video in your ActiveRain Profile... - 01/07/10 01:23 AM
Inserting your You Tube Video in your ActiveRain Profile...I have been asked by several Newbies on how to insert a You Tube video into their profile page. As promised, here is my version on how to do this. While, there may be differing opinions on how to accomplish this task, I have done a short video which I feel is short, concise and succinct.    Although I do use a MAC, this process will work on a PC. I prefer to use Fire Fox for editing as it does interface well with ActiveRain and appears to be a more stable browser. … (23 comments)

Yesterday, I  wrote a 2 posts "Colored Text Series - How to Get Color in Your Responses..." and "Colored Text Series - How to Get Color in Your Responses - Part II..." The first in the series was for MAC users who use the Safari browser and Part duex was for PC users. The last in this series is how to get colorful posts. active rain: Hobnobbing - ActiveRain Style... - 08/12/09 09:58 PM
Today, Twang Town hosts two of ActiveRain's finest - Missy Caulk and Bob Stewart. Bob and Missy will be talking at a FREE seminar being hosted by Larry Brewer and Keller Williams - 9175 Carouthers Parkway; Cool Springs. This seminar will be between 0900 and 1200 CST. Have questions about blogging and SEO? I am sure that between Bob and Missy, any and all questions will be answered. If not, dumb looks are still free. It'll be fun hobnobbing with these guys. Who knows, this old blog dog might learn some new tricks. You will too. C'mon, set a spell, and … (25 comments)

active rain: Tips for better photography... - 06/30/09 01:00 PM
There are several good photographers here in the ActiveRain network and I often get asked (via email) technical questions about how to do better photography and really capture the essence of the moment. I submitted a lame post about this the other day. However, for my ActiveRain friends that want to learn more, I stumbled across this website (will open in new window) the other day. Here you can see the effects of changing aperture priority, shutter priority, and how shutter speed (ISO), changing f-stops and illumination affects the quality of your photos. These will work on any good digital or … (18 comments)

active rain: It's Sunday - The Word is Mum... - 05/16/09 11:26 PM
Ah, it's Sunday. Time to watch another endless progression of Speechless Sunday posts march down the blog roll. What is so special about Sundays and Wednesdays? Have some of us missed the memo informing folks that the word is mum on those days? Do folks just run out of words on these days? Maybe they just want to save the words and oxygen for the preachers on these days when they need to get fired up and deliver one of those "Hell fire and Brimstone" - long winded, very verbose, will he ever shut-up sermons. Who knows? Growing up here in … (18 comments)

active rain: How About a Quickie? - 04/30/09 01:59 AM
In the mood but don't have a lot of time? Well then, how about a quickie? No silly, I am not talking about THAT silly stuff that makes the world go round, I'm talking about a writing a post. See, I guess I killed the mood already. Sigh!! As the Spring/Summer selling/inspecting season gets into full swing, I do not have the time to spend long amorous hours at the keyboard conjuring up thoughts of how do I love thee mon Cherie deBlogette while listening to Stevie Wonder crooning on in the background.  When things get busy, many of us lazy … (15 comments)

active rain: More ActiveRain Growing Pains? - 04/27/09 10:14 PM
Boy, I hate when ActiveRain goes through a programming change. It seems like it takes weeks to work all the hitches out of the giddyup. Having been a propeller head (programmer) myself, I totally understand the need for changes in software and the hick-ups that normally accompany these changes. I noticed today, that even though I made more than my 10 "credited" comments, I only got credited for doing one. H-m-m-m-m, strange things happening here. Is anyone else experiencing this? Hopefully it is just a temporary glitch that the propeller heads will work out real soon... Y'all have a G-r-r-r-reat day...   … (19 comments)

active rain: Conficker C - April Fools Prank or Real Threat? - 03/30/09 10:28 PM
As we all know, tomorrow is a day for pranksters of all types to come out of the woodwork; however, there is a computer virus, "Conficker C" that threaten not to be a prank. There are a lot of "sick puppies" in this world that have nothing better to do than to find ways to wreak havoc on the unsuspecting public and destroy their computers or at least make their lives miserable. If you have this virus lying in wait in your computer, tomorrow is the day of reckoning. And, the talking heads and geeks do not know if this is … (25 comments)
