activerain: ActiveRain Book... - 08/01/14 08:47 PM
Gosh, a lot has happened to the face of the ActiveRain since Zillow has purchased Trulia. The only thing that is a constant in this universe is change. Nothing stays the same. While I understand that the whole intent and purpose of the founders of Active Rain was to create a platform for real estate professionals and about real estate I really feel that the platform is migrating away from the original vision.
Sure, I can understand the concept behind rewarding folks for their blogging efforts. Hence, the point system. I'm really wondering in my heart of hearts if the … (53 comments)

activerain: ActiveRain Meet-up - Middle Tennessee - 12/04/13 06:06 PM
Yesterday, the Nashville group had their quarterly meet up at Mac and Kate's Café in Franklin Tennessee. It was great to reconnect with Tammy and get an opportunity to meet her husband, Tom. I also had the opportunity to reconnect with Connie Harvey and catch up with her on what is happening in her life.
What I feel is really great about these events, is that one has the opportunity to meet new faces. Some of the newbies were home stager Christine Trebendis and real estate agent Jill Winchell both of Brentwood Tennessee. Debbie Reynolds, a real estate agent in the … (19 comments)

activerain: Spam, Spam, and More Spam... - 08/30/11 11:41 PM
Spam, Spam, and More Spam...     I've never been a fan of SPAM. You know what I mean - the crap that comes in a can. I am even less of a fan of "the other SPAM" - the garbage that comes in your inbox or better yet; the rubbish left on the bottom of your posts.      It seems as if here lately, the spammers are out in full force leaving their drivel strewn about, hither and thither in order to promote their self serving agendas or promote some idiotic tomfoolery.      Many of us are busy and don't have time … (41 comments)

(unofficial) ActiveRain Blogging Stats - July 2011...     Another month has zipped by like a herd of wild tortoises, and a new month has begun. And we all know what that means, sports fans. Yes, it time for monthly reports and the unofficial ActiveRain Blogging report. We have our finger firmly on the pulse of what is happening on a daily basis here your most favorite web address in the blogisphere.     The numbers were down a bit as compared to last month which is understandable. 4th of July, vacations, time spent with the fam and all that razzmatazz. Hopefully, we will all … (25 comments)

activerain: Good Morning, ActiveRain... - 06/12/11 10:43 PM
Good Morning, ActiveRain...While not my usual Monday morning post, I just thought I'd pop in for a few. I am somewhere between where I left and where I want to be later today. I did the major portion of the trek yesterday while the traffic was light. All was good, save for the typical road construction in Atlanta. Will they EVER have all the roadwork done in Atlanta? Gawd only knows. Anyway, I will make every attempt to post something daily, however pitiful it may be, (kinda like this one) and comment as much as I can. If I don't make … (32 comments)

activerain: Where's My Cookie? - 06/07/11 01:31 AM
Where's My Cookie?Either something must have gone "bump" in the night at ActiveRain headquarters or the cookie monster crept into my computer and ate my cookie. I hate it when I loose my cookies ~ I mean, when someone eats my cookies. I can remember eons ago, one had to submit a graphic for every comment. I can understand spam control, but when you submit 10-30 comments along with graphics, it does get to be a royal pain. This was eventually corrected; a cookie was placed and one only had to submit one graphic for commenting long as they remained logged … (43 comments)

Evolving…
I find it both interesting and fascinating when I hop into the time machine and go into the ActiveRain past. Yesterday, Craig Daniels and I were emailing each other as we took a trip down the ActiveRain memory lane. Using this URL ( http://activerain.com/recent_blog_posts/42294 ) we were able to go all the way back to the first official ActiveRain blog #10 - http://activerain.com/blogsview/10/blast-the-bubble. Sadly, the post has been deleted by the author, but you can still leave a comment. Gosh how the platform and times have changed as we are in constant flux and evolution. And so too, it goes … (56 comments)

How Sweet it IS...
This evening as I wind down from the day's activities and take another sip of "the fruit of the vine", I look up and out at the peak of my Everest, my last milestone here in the Rain. The final step of going where few ActiveRain blogger have gone. The journey is so close, one click away, but still, it seems so far away.  Needless to say, I am a mixed gambit of emotions. I am nothing special. I have no great writing abilities or wonderful talents. I'm just a dumb 'ol farm boy who grew up … (140 comments)

(not so) Wordless Wednesday...
As many of you know the new CEO (Niki) Nikesh Parekh, has offered the community a challenge. A challenge to create a collage of what ActiveRain means to you. Being the dismal hack at Photoshop that I am, I came up with the entry below. C'mon, get in on the fun and show us what ActiveRain means to you. Hurry, the contest ends real soon. Oh, did I mention that there is the chance to win 5,000 ActiveRain points? Oh, I just did...

Let's Make it an Even Dozen...
Checking in with the ActiveRain Leaderboard last night, I noticed that one of the original faces to the rain, John Novak, reached the millonaire status, rounding the elite to an even dozen. John's first entry, dates all the way back to August, 2006. Talk about longevity and stick-to-itiveness. I guess we can relate John as the proverbial tortoise in the Rabbit and the Tortoise story. While there were those who jumped out and lead the pack quickly surpassing the MM mark, John kept plodding along, slowly but surely; putting one blog down after the … (32 comments)

And Now There's 11...
Although not quite there yet, fellow ActiveRain member, home inspector extraordinaire, and blogging sensation, Steven L. Smith, will become the next King of the House as he joins the ranks of ActiveRain millionaires. Poised at 999,950 points, Steven and his assistant, Nutsy, have been around the Hallowed Halls of Blogdom since April 2007; entertaining us with his inspection blogs, photos and of course Nutsy's antics. Now he is just a stones throw from being our next millionaire. Let's all stop by Steve's Blog to congratulate him on his lucky day and reaching this milestone by subscribing to … (33 comments)

Harnessing the Power of ActiveRain...
I rarely write "Technical Posts" because they can be lengthy and time consuming. Most of the time, technical stuff goes over most people's heads, but because I like my subscribers and was asked "to share the wealth" here goes...
Those of us who patron ActiveRain are all too familiar with its ability to generate Google juice and provide "OOMPH" to our businesses. There are many that post here as well on our outside blogs in order to get a leg-up on competition and vie for one of those 10 coveted spots on the first … (17 comments)

activerain: "E" Stands For Enough... - 04/15/11 05:55 AM
"E" Stands For Enough...Invariably, as life would have it, I drag sorry butt outta bed late, the coffee pot fails to have my elixir of life on the ready and I have an appointment across town in less than an hour. That sux. Oh well, I flip the switch on the pot as I rush to shower, grab a mug on the way out the door, jump in the car just to find the tank resting on "E". That sux. Okay, I drive a car that is supposed to get 47mpg if I go easy, but then I'm running late. I … (26 comments)

activerain: Thankful Thursdays... - 04/13/11 11:43 PM
Thankful Thursdays...Looking back, there are many things I am thankful for. Yesterday, was no exception. RE-Barcamp, was held at the Icon which is nestled in the Gulch, in downtown Nashville, TN. Not only was I thankful to be able to attend and learn from experts, but I was thankful to be be able to connect with some of my ActiveRain friends from afar. To me, it is always great to be able to put a voice and a live face to the name and the avatar I see roll down the blogroll. It was great to talk to and see two … (30 comments)

activerain: Unofficial Monthly Blogging Report... - 04/04/11 11:21 PM
Unofficial Monthly Blogging Report...It's that time of the month again. Real estate agents are busy posting the monthly stats on how well their market area fared for the past month. Although I'm not a numbers person, I started tracking daily events mainly out of curiosity. Now some 4 years later, I'm still going through the same routine. Talk about a creature of habit. March's average daily posts were on par with February's. The high volume day was 9 March with 2,207 and low was 26 March with 1259. I did add one slight variation - percentage of participation. All I can … (53 comments)

activerain: How Slow Can You Go? - 12/07/10 11:03 PM
How Slow Can You Go? We live in a fast paced society. There are many of that exist on the bleeding edge of speed ~ Faster horses, faster cars, faster internet... Back in the dark ages, we connected to the internet through services like Prodigy or AOL, screaming through cyberspace at 9K Baud speeds. It wasn't long before technology improved and we were able to whiz at warp speeds through our 54K baud dial ups. The boings, dings and other sounds generated by the old modems are now memories to those of us who lived in that era. Now, we connect … (22 comments)

2000000 and Counting...A Zero by itself means nothing. Zip. Nada. Zilch. Put something in front of it say, a 2 followed by 6 zeros - that MEANS something. Like a whole lotta blogging.Today, ActiveRain blasted through another milestone on its trek toward being the largest real estate blog site. Today, 2 December, at 9:43PM Eastern, Lisa Moroniak posted the 2 Millionth post (http://activerain.com/blogsview/2000000/5br-3-5ba-home-for-rent-in-potomac-crossing-leesburg-va-20176). Let's congratulate Lisa and all the ActiveRain members that helped make ActiveRain history to make this the best real estate blogging platform...
