humor: What Are You Standing On? - 06/21/09 05:15 AM
One of my friends was telling me how they had to keep the cookies in an upper cabinet to keep his five year old daughter from getting into them. Well, one day he happened to look through the opening between the family room and the kitchen and he could see his daughter reaching into the cabinet where the cookies were stashed. Puzzled, he asked, "Claire, What are you standing on?" To which she promptly replied, "I'm standing on God's Promises!" Even more puzzled by her answer, he walked into the kitchen where the girl had maneuvered a chair to so she (12 comments)

The innocence and the naiveté of children never ceases to amaze me. When we were kids, we we totally trusted in our environment and that things would be okay. humor: NO MO... - 04/07/09 06:56 AM
Have you ever had one of those weeks or days when you just have the BLAHS. One side of you says don't just do something, sit there like a bump on a log. The other side says gotta get out and make hay while the sun is shining. Some may call it having a bad case of NO MO. Now I know that I am from the South as I grew up on a farm in the southern part of Georgia. And, that part of the south had a tendency to truncate words; hence giving birth to contractions that we all (58 comments)

This 'telephone' has too many shortcomings to be seriously considered as a means of communication. humor: Thoughts to Ponder on This Valentines Day... - 02/14/09 07:25 AM
I have often wondered why Cupid was chosen as the spokesperson for Valentines Day. When I am looking at someone with amorous thoughts or downright lust; now I don't know about Y'all, but the last thing I want have sitting on my shoulder or someone elses' for that matter is some short, overweight, half naked balding twerp brandishing a bow and arrow! Dang! Talk about being a turn on... Here's wishing all my subscribers, associates and fellow drips and tweets... A Happy Valentines Day... Have a G-r-r-r-reat Weekend, Y'all... humor: The Lighter Side of Doctors... - 10/27/08 04:34 PM
Five surgeons from the big hospitals here in town were discussing who makes the best patients to operate on. The first surgeon, from Skyline, says, 'I like to see Accountants on my operating table; because when you open them up, everything inside is numbered.' The second surgeon, from Baptist, responds, 'Yeah, but you should try Electricians! Everything inside them is color coded.' The third surgeon, from St. Thomas, says, 'No, I really think Librarians are the best. Everything inside them is in alphabetical order.' The fourth surgeon, from Williamson Medical Hospital, chimes in, 'You know, I like (13 comments)

Tomorrow is Sunday. As usual, I go to early church service go out some place cool for breakfast and head home and get ready for some football. YEAH BUDDY!!! However, the past few Sundays, I have REALLY been blessed. During the praise and worship portion of the service, I have had the opportunity to be be in front of some tone deaf worshipers. When the singing started, I had to do a double take to make sure that I did not step on someone's foot or kitty's tail. Now when it comes to caryin' a tune, I ain't got the best (6 comments)
humor: You Should Have Seen the One That Got Away... - 08/13/08 03:16 PM
This morning, I was feeling kinda blah, so on the advice of some of my Active Rain friends, I took the morning off and went fishun' with Bubba and a few buds. We headed off to Bubba's secret fishun' hole and really slammed them today. Yeah Buddy! No matter how hard we tried, there were a few bigguns that just got away. Now I know that fisherman the world over are known for their exaggerated tales about the one that got away. Now y'all have to realize that the size of that fish is in direct proportion to the number of (12 comments)
humor: Asta la Vista - Baby… - 07/03/08 05:46 AM
Today I am typing my first post here in active|rain on my formally Microsoft stained fingers. Hallelujah!! Today I have gone ‘cold turkey’ and kicked the habit… the Microsoft habit that is. Having been a PC person since, 1983, I have been through the whole gambit of operating systems that MS had to offer starting with the very early days of DOS… Some systems were better than others with XP probably being one of their best accomplishments in my view. Yes, there were some challenges. One of my biggest peeves was with the idiot who came up the pop-up (17 comments)
humor: The Price of Gasoline IS Going Down... - 06/24/08 04:21 AM
Yup! You heard me right... The price of gasoline is going down. According to the latest news release on NPR, the price of gasoline declined this week a whopping 0.0033 cents per gallon Nationwide! How exciting! The savings at the gas pump and a buck will almost buy you a double cheese burger at McDonalds or Wendy's. Who says that the media just reports doom-and-gloom and disasters. This is something that we all need to click our heels over... Yeah Right! Now if they would say something positive about the housing market... "Yesterday it was reported that a house sold in (41 comments)
humor: Photo of the Day... - 06/13/08 07:21 PM
I love inspecting rehabs… I love inspecting rehabs… I love inspecting rehabs… At least that is what I keep telling myself. There are some properties that are about as much fun to inspect as a sharp stick in the eye. Today I had a real doozie. I will not bother reprinting the marketing BS… Excuse me, marketing babble for this “pristine property” located in the “trendy” section of Nashville, TN. “Grab your hat, coat and belongings and move into this newly renovated completely refurbished bungalow…” Well, er kinda sorta ready to move in … Well, it seems as if our (7 comments)
humor: Don't Get Caught in This Trap . . . - 06/02/08 06:57 PM
Remember when you were a kid and sang songs like "Here we go loop de do, Here we go loop de lie . . ." Nothing wrong with happy songs and a happy plumbers. I guess that we could all use a little more happiness in our lives. But, all I could think of when I saw this menagerie under the sink in a house in East Nashville, was our old friend "Bubba" with his plumbers crack just a shinin' while he was just a hummin' and a singin' along as if he were watching the bouncing ball at a Mitch (12 comments)
