marketing: Business Mastery's LIVE... - 11/07/09 08:02 AM
Yesterday, Mark Boersma, International speaker and President of Synergy Solutions, spoke at the Hampton Inn Suites in the Green Hills area of Nashville, TN. Several entrepreneurs who were serious about taking their businesses to the next level attended this special Business Mastery's seminar. Mark expanded on how to grow your business based on how to address your potential clients needs based on their personality. How to create raving fans for life through the warm belly rub principle. Three questions you need to be asking if you want to close the sale, was a hot topic of discussion. During the working lunch … (8 comments)

marketing: Thursday's Thoughts - Mind Movies - 06/04/09 06:31 AM
Earlier in the year, I wrote an article about Mind Movies, and my Monday Morning Motivator reminded me not only of the power of the subconscious mind, but an unfinished project - My Mind Movie ... Now mind movies have been around for some time - the gist being taking a blend of pictures to create images in your subconscious mind to attract and create the opportunities to bring you what you are striving for, weight loss, more money, more time with family - what YOU want to acheive... Couple these images with some music that you really enjoy - you … (13 comments)

marketing: Marketing is Everything and Everything is Marketing... - 05/09/09 04:48 AM
Yesterday, I spent the day listening to Johnny Loewy, Exit Realty's top producer, put on a presentation for many local real estate agents here in the Nashville area. Now why would a home inspector spend time learning about how real estate agents market? Because marketing is universal no matter what industry you are in. Lets face it folks, we are all in the marketing business, we just happen to be driving different vehicles to reach our destinations. One point that was really driven home yesterday was that "Marketing is Everything and Everything is Marketing..." Many of the marketing techniques that top … (5 comments)

marketing: Recycling Your Old Posts... - 04/19/09 06:33 AM
Today recycling seems to be the "in" thing to do as we recycle everything from our used adult beverage containers to paper, plastic and other products in order to make our environment better. But what about recycling our old used blogs that contain excellent material that exist out there in the blogosphere? Can they be given a face-lift and recycled as well? Today, more than ever, the entrepreneur that is going to survive this economic hick-up needs to be more creative and do more with less time. Ah time, our immortal enemy, fodder for another blog and future date. Lest I … (11 comments)

marketing: Where Is Your Traffic Coming From? - 04/18/09 07:20 AM
Earlier in the day I wrote a post on knowing the importance of having keywords embedded in your blogs and websites and how to track them by using Google Analytics. This utility has the ability to provide you with a plethora of other search criteria such as telling you where your web traffic is coming from. To change your analysis, click on the drop down next to Analyze: to change your analysis options. This data is helpful as you can find out where your inbound traffic is coming from and how effective your marketing efforts are. Google Analysis used to work … (13 comments)

marketing: Keying in on Keywords... - 04/18/09 05:02 AM
By now, most folks know the importance of having keywords embedded in their blogs and websites. But how well are these keywords working for you? One simple tool that I use quite frequently for tracking purposes is Google Analytics. This utility has the ability to provide you with a plethora of other search criteria - but this post is on keywords. I have used Google's Keyword Tool to get ideas as to what are the more popular keywords for my area, but these are great guidelines or blocks to start with. It is up to YOU to track these and then … (9 comments)

marketing: There is no Magic Bullet... - 04/16/09 06:42 AM
Lest we all are being duped by the latest trends and gimmicks in the advertising world, there is no magic bullet when it comes to marketing; however, there is the shotgun approach. I do not know of too many bird hunters that use a .308 cal round to bring down a dove or quail. Our next customer is similar to that one bird in a covey of flighty birds. We have but that one shot to bring down our next meal. In this market, we need to use the right tool for the job because for some, it has been a … (10 comments)

marketing: Going Postal... - 03/27/09 06:28 AM
With great satisfaction, I have to say that yesterday was my day to go around shooting real estate agents. I am quite sure that this is something that many home inspectors would just LOVE to do if given the chance. - LOL - And yesterday I did it! I shot a bunch of them. No, not with my 357 magnum or 45 Smith and Wesson, but with my Sony HD. We lined them up in the Keller Williams office at 9175 Carouthers Parkway in Franklin,TN and had a green screen shoot. Larry Brewer has been teaching a technology class every Thursday … (16 comments)

marketing: Blog or Tweet? That is the Question... - 03/23/09 10:20 AM
While perusing the blog roll earlier in the day, I ran across Lonn Dugan's post - Twitter Me This... Now in response to another post about how a question posted by one person can lead to another post here in the rain, this got my curiosity up. We all know that blogging is important, but how about Twittering? How will this affect our bottom line and is it worth the time? To find the answer, I went straight to the birds beak and asked the "Queen of Twitter", fellow ActiveRainer Susie Blackmon for the answer. If you really want to know … (9 comments)

marketing: Look at the Winners, Not the Dead Flies... - 03/14/09 06:00 AM
We have all heard the story of the "Tortoise and the Hare" and the power of being dedicated and persistent and its rewards. Well, some 479 days, 708 posts, and 6026 comments after I got active in Active Rain, I have reached the Number One Position in the state of Tennessee. Having reached this goal has left me somewhat anticlimactic. But I am not here to write about or applaud my success, my goal is to write about focus, vision, dedication, and the internal fortitude that it takes to get to the top and be successful at what ever you endeavor. … (19 comments)

marketing: Be Engaged in the Conversation With Nearby Tweets... - 03/07/09 07:08 AM
As we all know, "traditional" media types are dying. All we need to do is turn on the tube to hear the latest and greatest on what paper is bankrupt. And, most of us who could, would zap past TV or radio commercials so we can get back into the "nitty-gritty" of the program. A very low percentage of us trust media ads. Kinda like Congress, "If their lips are moving...". On the other hand, a huge percentage of us trust a referral source from a friend or collegue. Sound familiar? This type of "personal referral" source of advertising can be … (30 comments)

marketing: 5 Power Words to Add to Your Vocabulary... - 02/18/09 08:37 AM
Do you want more business? Do you want people to trust you and do business with you. If so, here are 5 power words to add to your vocabulary which can add to your bottom line. The first and most important word is "consequences". Consequences are a result of action. Consequences can be good or bad, depending upon your decision or lack of. However; the word personalizes and dramatizes an action taken by you that directly affects you, your business or your customer . "Impact" is second on the list. How are your decisions going to impact the outcome of the … (9 comments)
