How Much Do You Trust Our Government...
Unless you are living under a rock somewhere, by now you have heard that Bin Laden has met his maker. Really? The only thing we have to go on is "supposedly" DNA evidence and the troops that says, it was him. I thought that the DNA tests came back very quickly, but then, what does this skeptic know? Now that the body is buried at sea, all concrete evidence confirming or denying is gone forever. So the $64,000 question is, "Do you trust our Government when they say that Bin Laden is dead?" I … (23 comments)

Monday Morning Motivator & Some Points to Ponder...
Burn your computer. Blow up your TV. Bludgeon your cell phone. Breathe deeply. This, my friends, is the secret to inner-peace.      - Brian Vaszily Technology. Were would we be without it? I can remember my first business computer. A Panasonic with a 8086 processor, 1 meg of ram, 2 floppies, a whopping 20 meg hard drive and 28K baud modem. My how things have changed. My cell phone can do more than that thing ever could. The technology boom has become a double edged sword. Some don't seem to be able to … (25 comments)

Harnessing the Power of ActiveRain...
I rarely write "Technical Posts" because they can be lengthy and time consuming. Most of the time, technical stuff goes over most people's heads, but because I like my subscribers and was asked "to share the wealth" here goes...
Those of us who patron ActiveRain are all too familiar with its ability to generate Google juice and provide "OOMPH" to our businesses. There are many that post here as well on our outside blogs in order to get a leg-up on competition and vie for one of those 10 coveted spots on the first … (17 comments)

michaelsdig: (not so) Speechless Sundae... - 04/30/11 10:51 PM
(not so) Speechless Sundae...Nestled under the out-stretched arms of the dogwood in my back yard, two clumps of blue iris turn their soft, billowy heads toward the cobalt blue sky. Reminiscent of the Dickens-era fashions worn in the Victorian era of by gone days, these ladies sway to and fro on the early morning breeze.
In true southern fashion, they gently swish by my sore eyes decked in colors and fabric fit for royalty. Add layers of trims, laces and pearls there you have it, a true Southern Belle if ever I saw one...

michaelsdig: Friday's Fotos... - 04/28/11 10:50 PM
Friday's Photos…The photo pictured below is nothing new. I posted a similar photo about a year or so ago when I returned from a seminar in Vegas where I had the opportunity to meet fellow Rainers - Robert (Vegas Bob) A.Swetz and John Novak. If you look closely, there are three things unique about this picture. The first thing you may notice is the lack of traffic along the Vegas Strip. Yes, the old shutterbug was up at the "whee" hours of the morn, gear in tow, dazed and totally confused, wandering somewhere behind the pixels as I am prone to … (41 comments)

michaelsdig: How often do we do this? - ActiveRain Kodak Video Challenge Contest... - 01/26/11 08:25 AM
How often do we do this? - ActiveRain Kodak Video Challenge Contest...Video. One thing that we as real estate professionals need to be doing, but don't. This year, I plan to put together more video's similar to this one, to help folks to understand not only things we do as home inspectors, but maintenance/home improvement tips for home owners. The Kodak Challenge/Active Rain Contest has given me the necessary incentive to start making more of these.

This post is written as a submission to the Active Rain Kodak Video Challenge contest. I have a chance to win the KODAK … (25 comments)

michaelsdig: The Phoenix… - 12/31/10 11:03 PM
The Phoenix…The start of another new year. Today many will be putting together their list of resolutions, they somehow don't manage to keep. Some, hoping to fare a little better, will pooh pooh the silly notions of doing resolutions; how absurd. No, they will disguise their folly as "Goals" for 2011.Call it what you want,
but many will formulate some notion of what they want or hope to accomplish the next 365 days. Be it love, peace-of-mind or the things that money CAN buy. This year is as fresh as a new born out of the womb. With it are unblemished possibilities … (32 comments)

michaelsdig: Thanx… - 12/30/10 10:47 PM
Thanx…Here it is, the end of another year. Looking back, I have a lot to be thankful for. Thanx to those who hated me,
they made me a stronger person. Thanx to those who loved me,
they made my heart bigger. Thanx to those who were worried about me,      they let me know that they cared. Thanx to those who left me,
they made me realize that nothing lasts forever. Thanx to those who entered my life and never left,
they made me know who I am. Special thanks to all my friends,
who supported … (43 comments)

Keep Your Nose to the Grindstone...Having spent the past month working in, on and giving folks the business, the 31 DOD Challenge is quickly coming to a close. As the year winds to a close, it is but human nature to get lax and let things slide.

While temping, there is still a lot to get accomplished before the New Year starts. I don't know about you, but it seems, the more I do, the more I see that needs to get done. Kinda the proverbial, too much to do and so little time. That being said, I need … (21 comments)

31 DOD Challenge ~ Day 29...Who sez we can't mix work and fun. Today, in keeping up with the challenge with only two more days to go, I had fun while I worked - nothing wrong with that now is there?I finished setting up the Virtual Machine on the Mac. I had a little time to kill while the Time Machine was mirroring the hard drive, so I took a trip to the Photo Shop with my good friend Craig Rutman. Like, what's there not to love about touring the streets of France and looking at the... well... scenery. The rest … (10 comments)

(not so) Wordless Wednesday…Wow! Can you believe it?. 2 more days and this year will be history!!! Believe it or not, I'm at a real loss for words...Oh whell, since I have my tang tungled and wrapped around my eye teeth and I cannot see what I am saying, I'll just let the picture do the talking.

michaelsdig: Parallels ~ Bridging the Gap... - 12/28/10 08:38 AM
Parallels ~ Bridging the Gap...Many folks have entered the 31 DOD challenge to prep for the plethora of anticipated business for 2011. Today, in keeping up with the challenge, I made the decision to install Parallels on my MAC. I know, it is nothing new, but for those not familiar with the program, it allows you to run Windows under the shell of Mac OS-x.For a long time I have been a purist. Not wanting to taint my MAC with MS or MS software; sometimes, push comes to shove and one must hold their nose and insert the disk and so … (29 comments)

michaelsdig: The End IS Near... - 12/27/10 09:52 PM
The End IS Near...It's been a crazy past few days. We've seen gas prices steadily rise, been hit by major and catastrophic weather disasters and watched in dismay as Sunday Night Football got moved to Tuesday. Peering out of the corner of our eyes, we glance at the calendar and realize, the end is near. The end of the year and the 31 Days of December Challenge that is. Not to mention that our good friend, Craig Rutman, is "Jonny-on-the-spot" to help remind us procrastinators that - well, you know... Gosh! Time sure flies when we are having fun, doesn't it? … (31 comments)

michaelsdig: Monday Morning Motivator & Some Points to Ponder… - 12/26/10 09:49 PM
Monday Morning Motivator & Some Points to Ponder…We spend January 1 walking through our lives, room by room, drawing up a list of work to be done, cracks to be patched. Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives... not looking for flaws, but for potential.      ~~Ellen Goodman For many, this week will be spent in agonizing contemplation. Dissecting the past year into what ifs or could have beens. Scrutinizing minute details that may or may not have made a difference. The past is the past and can't be changed. It … (25 comments)

michaelsdig: 31 DOD ~ Day After Christmas… - 12/26/10 06:55 AM
31 DOD ~ Day After Christmas…Boy, it sure is easy to fall off the wagon, especially during the holidays. Guilty as charged. Not all was lost though. Yesterday, I download a trial version of a new inspection software that is MAC compatible. I have been wanting to give Microsoft the boot and go totally with Mac; however, my only tie to the PC world was the inspection software. This morning and this afternoon, I have been studying the tutorials and doing some "test" inspections. With some practice and some program support help, hopefully, I will be doing my new reports on … (8 comments)

michaelsdig: (not so) Speechless Sundae… - 12/25/10 11:31 PM
(not so) Speechless Sundae…Yesterday, middle Tennesseans were treated to a rare "White Christmas". While we did not get hammered like many, it was kinda cool, looking at the delicate white blanket that covered the ground; making yesterday, Christmas, a good day to cop some "Z's" and get OD'd on the "Hallmark" channel. We did get some additional "S" word late yesterday afternoon and into the evening. H-m-m-m-m, kinda enjoyed the down time, I just may dream of another "White Christmas" next year. Milk is not just the only white stuff that does a body good...

Make Points - Don't Get Them...Ah, Christmas. Time to spend with family, friends and others that have impacted or influenced our existence. Christmas, a season to give unselfishly and brighten the lives of others. This holiday season, I challenge one and all ~~~ Pick up the phone and call someone in the rain. No, you won't get any ActiveRain points ~ Zip, Nada, Zilch. I will guarantee you this. michaelsdig: Monday Morning Motivator & Some Points to Ponder... - 12/19/10 10:39 PM
Monday Morning Motivator & Some Points to Ponder...As we struggle with shopping lists, invitations and the anxiety it brings, compounded by December's foul weather, it is good to be reminded that there are people in our lives who are worth this aggravation, and people to whom we are worth the same.      ~ Unknown Holidays can be times of love, laughter, joy and giving. But they can also be trying. Bumper-to-bumper Mall traffic, no parking spots, road rage, and rude shoppers portray anything but peace and goodwill toward men. In this, the last week before Christmas, why bother with the madness? … (35 comments)

Life Is too Short ~ Have a Little Fun...My good friend Craig Rutman certainly has the right attitude - Life is way to short, have a little fun.Drawing upon his keen wit, and great photoshopping abilities, The Craigster so masterfully transforms the mundane into isles of laughter and musings. I often wonder how his clients are able to take him seriously, but such is life on the farm...
