nashville tn: Did I Hear the Words, "Sellers Market"? - 07/21/11 05:47 AM
Did I Hear the Words, "Sellers Market"? Yesterday, the Woman's Council of Realtors met at the Williamson County Association of Realtors office to hear Edsel Charles, the founder and Chairman of the Board for MarketGraphics Research Group, Inc., present his forecast for the Nashville real estate market for the next few years. Edsel, was one of the few that warned investors, builders and real estate professionals of the impending burst of the bubble back in 2006. Edsel's forecasts have been both factual and accurate for the past 12 years.
His predictions are as follows:
1) A steady recovery for the Nashville/Williamson … (24 comments)

nashville tn: Sunny Skies - What a Relief... - 05/04/10 05:28 AM
Sunny Skies - What a Relief...     This past weekend, the middle Tennessee area got pummeled by 16-20 inches of rain. Flash floods, impassable roads, lost power, and treacherous driving conditions were the norm. Needless to say, yesterday's sunny skies were a welcome relief.       As I drove around the passable roads along the river front, I was reminded at how vulnerable we are to the whims of Mother Nature.
Flooded subdivision in the Pennington Bend area of Nashville. This was taken about a mile from the river... Prime "Water Front" property for sale Flooded businesses along the river front Complete … (29 comments)

nashville tn: (not so) Speechless Sunday... - 04/25/10 04:20 AM
(not so) Speechless Sunday...     I have met a lot of ladies in my life. Some, have been more memorable than others. However; there is one lady that I do not like to encounter no matter where I am. It seems as if this dark, dastardly darling shows up where you least expect. Needless to say, not being my style, I just widow shopped, and kept a movin'. I'm sure some dummy might get caught in her web...

nashville tn: The Cascades at Opryland Hotel - 01/03/10 04:47 AM
Every year, on New Years day, I go to the Opryland Hotel and have breakfast at the Cascades Restaurant. Afterward, I go for a walk through the many atriums and gardens that encompass the Opryland complex. Overall, there are approximately 9 acres of walks and gardens, divided into 3 separate areas. Each has its own unique theme. These are the Cascades, Delta, and Garden or Magnolia Conservatories. My two personal favorites are the Cascades and Magnolia rooms. The second largest of the atriums, the Cascades, was built in 1988. This section was built to complement the Magnolia or Garden Conservatory which … (21 comments)

nashville tn: Christmas at Opryland 2009 - 12/27/09 06:31 PM
Nashvillians are lucky to have a world-class hotel the caliber of Opryland. It was not too long ago, the Hotel only had the one atrium, the Magnolia room. Through the years, the additions of the Cascades and the Delta has added much to the hotel complex. Every room has a different theme and water features. The dancing fountain in the Delta Room is really a sight to behold. I hope that you enjoy the video.    Complete Home Inspections/Complete Video Promotions  © 2009 michael thornton | complete home inspections, inc./complete video promotions | brentwood, tn | 615.661.0297 | www.completehomeinspectionsonline.com Helping YOU … (6 comments)

nashville tn: Nashville, TN - The Athens of the South - 12/04/09 06:57 AM
Nashville, TN - The Athens of the South Nashville, Tennessee has had many nicknames. Because of all the rocks strewn over the landscape, it was known as "Rock City". Today, it is known as "Music City USA" because of its ties to Country Music and the Grand Ol Opry. But before Nashville was dubbed by its current nickname; it was known as and is still referred to by many as: the "Athens of the South".

nashville tn: (not so) Wordless Wednesday ~ Having a distorted point of view... - 11/18/09 06:18 AM
(not so) Wordless Wednesday ~ Having a distorted point of view...Ever met one of those folks that are really weird? You know the ones I'm talking about.  The ones that have that mentality where they seem to live in a world of grays. Most folks say that they have a distorted point of view...To the photographer, having a distorted point of view of the world is considered art. While walking through the "Arcades" section of downtown Nashville, TN the other day, I got fascinated by the distortions of the buildings reflected in the windows.Does this mean that I am sick and … (21 comments)

nashville tn: One Million Dollar Home Buying Challenge... - 08/06/09 06:14 AM
Two local businessmen are sponsoring an open invitation to the community for first time home buyers to take advantage of the $8,000 stimulus package being offered by the government. The concept is that if 125 new home buyers can purchase new homes by the 30th of November, the combined revenue generated could stimulate the local economy to the tune of 1 Million dollars. I just finished producing and uploading the video to You Tube a few minutes ago. Take a look at the 60 second spot and give your feed back. I would appreciate it. Y'all have a G-r-r-r-reat day... ;-) … (8 comments)

nashville tn: Photo of the Day... - 12/16/08 03:46 AM
While rummaging around the carriage house at the Belle Meade Plantation in Nashville, TN, I came across this item that Santa seemed to have misplaced. I sure hope that he finds it, otherwise, there are going to be a lot of disappointed children. What do you think...

nashville tn: Christmas at Opryland Hotel... - 12/13/08 05:16 AM
Christmas. What a wonderful time of the year. People singing, people laughing, people giving, festive spirits, and not to mention the eye candy of the lights and decorations that adorn homes and businesses. Ah, as the song writer said, "Christmas is the hap-hapiest time of the year."

nashville tn: Peak Fall Colors At Radnor Lake... - 11/08/08 05:05 AM
The walking paths at Radnor Lake State Park and Naturalist Area should be teeming with visitors this weekend as sunny skies and mild temperatures should provide ideal weather conditions to get out and enjoy the peak fall colors at the park. Yesterday's early morning rain provided an excellent opportunity to get out and enjoy the park as the parking lots and walking paths were void of visitors. Here are a few photos that I wanted to share...

Join my birthday alarm. It is fast painless and the best part of all, you will be helping me out.

nashville tn: The Lighter Side of Doctors... - 10/27/08 04:34 PM
Five surgeons from the big hospitals here in town were discussing who makes the best patients to operate on.
The first surgeon, from Skyline, says, 'I like to see Accountants on my operating table; because when you open them up, everything inside is numbered.'
The second surgeon, from Baptist, responds, 'Yeah, but you should try Electricians! Everything inside them is color coded.'
The third surgeon, from St. Thomas, says, 'No, I really think Librarians are the best. Everything inside them is in alphabetical order.'
The fourth surgeon, from Williamson Medical Hospital, chimes in, 'You know, I like … (13 comments)

nashville tn: Gas Crisis in Nashville, TN... - 09/22/08 07:24 AM
I don't know how it is in your area, but since the last wave of hurricanes, especially Ike, the gasoline supply here in the Nashville area has dried up. Driving down any major street whether it be in Nashville, Brentwood or Franklin, one will see station after station with bags over the pump handles and no prices on the signs. Those stations that do have gasoline have long lines reminiscent of the gas shortages of the 70's. To add insult to injury, just try to find a 5 gal gas can in this town.
I left about 6 this morning … (32 comments)

nashville tn: Habitat House... - 09/12/08 07:47 PM
Every year about this time, the church I go to, Woodmont Hills Church of Christ and the Schrader Lane Church of Christ join forces to build a Habitat for Humanity home. Tomorrow  looks like a great day to swing hammers, socialize, and  fellowship with others in the community. For the past five years I have been involved in these building projects and am looking forward towards building another deserving family a new home. I plan to take several pictures and will post them tomorrow. If we get lucky, Bubba might even show up with his power tools and... Well, if you know … (12 comments)

nashville tn: Eminent Domain or Immanent Disaster for Property Owners? - 07/03/08 07:41 PM
By now, just about everyone knows that under a process called eminent domain, the government can (and does) seize private property for public use - to build roads, or infrastructure deemed ‘for the good of the public’. Is eminent domain being abused when the government can also seize your land for private use if they can prove that doing it will serve what's called "the public good"? Furthermore, is seizure of private property always in the public’s best interest or the best interest of “Big City Government” and generating more tax revenue?
It's been three years since the disastrous landmark Kelo … (2 comments)
