politics: We The People... - 03/20/09 06:11 AM
... are the infamous lines that start the preamble to our Constitution. But, are the voices of WE, the People, really being heard or they just falling on deaf ears as Congress goes on about its merry way conducting "business as usual" selfishly promoting and pursuing their agendas instead of what is best for We the People? Currently, We the People, are in the throws of an economic crisis that is jeopardizing the livelihood of hundreds of thousands of fellow Americans. Unemployment is on the rise, the real estate market is in a shambles, the stock market is down, pensions and

politics: A Trillion Dollar Mi$take... - 02/14/09 05:21 AM
Boy, am I glad to be home. I have really missed my Active Rain friends and have really missed the news as to what has been happening in the real world. You know how conventions go... That being said, have we just witnessed the signing of the Trillion Dollar Mi$take? As most of you know, the "Trillion Dollar Economic Stimulus Package, was ramrodded through Congress and the Senate. The bill was not given the chance to be reviewed, it was just shoved down our throats like a spoonful of Cod Liver Oil... YEECH!!! Yeah buddy! So much for transparency and openness

politics: What Does a Trillion Dollars Look Like? - 01/31/09 05:33 AM
We hear so much razzmatazz from the talking heads about this economic stimulus package that is surely going to surpass a Trillion dollars. This word is being tossed around like it were chump change or something. Folks, we are talking trillion with a capital "T". If you are like me, I needed some kind of visual so that I could wrap my puny mind about what these lawbreakers are talking about strapping us with. 1) - Imagine, if you can, having a $1,000.00 bill. A stack 4" high will equal a million or so. Now a Trillion $$$'s would be a

politics: Early Voting... - 10/21/08 05:00 AM
Between now and the 30th of October many cities and counties across the nation are conducting early voting. As this is going to be one of the most important elections that this nations faces and the future of this nation as we now know it hangs in the balance; I urge one and all to vote. Currently, early voting in this area is at an all time high and is running well ahead of the last Presidential election. The lines are quite short with most polling places in Brentwood and Franklin having a short 15-20 minute wait. Listed below are the

politics: Rut Ro... Palin Got Hacked... - 09/18/08 06:51 AM
Well it seems as if this election is stooping to new and better lows. As most of you may have heard by now, Palin's Yahoo email got hacked... Now I'm hacked off... Will the left stop at noting to 'dig up dirt' to destroy this lady? Why is it that Obama's and Biden's email accounts have not been hacked, and if Yahoo's email client is supposed to be so 'secure' how did hackers gain access? It just seems as if there are more questions than answers here folks. Why not hear what this woman has to say before judging her? It

politics: Eminent Domain or Immanent Disaster for Property Owners? - 07/03/08 07:41 PM
By now, just about everyone knows that under a process called eminent domain, the government can (and does) seize private property for public use - to build roads, or infrastructure deemed ‘for the good of the public’. Is eminent domain being abused when the government can also seize your land for private use if they can prove that doing it will serve what's called "the public good"? Furthermore, is seizure of private property always in the public’s best interest or the best interest of “Big City Government” and generating more tax revenue? It's been three years since the disastrous landmark Kelo

politics: Where Will Gas Prices Stop? - 06/09/08 08:17 PM
The price of a gallon of gasoline has now topped $4 per gallon nationally and it looks as if there is no relief in sight for weary motorists. As the price of crude on the open exchange continues to escalate, so does the price at the pump. These high prices are crippling consumers and businesses, and squelching our economy, which is already under pressure from higher food prices, job losses and sinking home values. So where do we go from here? The answer certainly does not lie with the oil companies. Their stock holders are looking for a return on their

politics: Our Current Energy Crisis - What Can We Do About It? - 06/04/08 06:31 PM
Pretty interesting what a difference a year makes. This time last year, many areas of the country were enjoying brisk home sales, crude oil prices were at $65 per barrel and the average price of gasoline was $2.299 per gallon. Today, the same crude has doubled and the price of gas hovers around $4. On top of that, America keeps gobbling up energy like Pack Man gobbles up dots. Energy providers are raising the rates on electricity and natural gas as well. These runaway energy prices are punishing an economy that is already weak. To top that off, millions of small
