Veterans Day 2009...This posting will only be one of a gazillion posts honoring Vets on Veteran's today. Being a vet, today, I welcome the words, "Thank you for your Service." For me and others in my era, it was not always that way.Having fought in an unpopular war that had our Country divided, we were looked down upon, spat upon, ridiculed, and verbally abused. "War monger!" "Baby killer!" were the welcome cries for many veterans of my era. Rarely was heard, "Thank you for your Service." Sticks and stones can break your bones but words can really hurt you. Next Sunday, August 16, The 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, will be hosting a welcome home ceremony to all Vietnam Veterans no matter what branch of service they served in. The event is to honor and welcome home all Vietnam Veterans who never got the recognition and welcome home that they deserved. To participate, all Vets should enter Fort Campbell at gate 7 by 2:00. They are requested to wear casual patriotic attire. Busses will transport everyone to Hanger 3 where they will be honored by the new Commanding General, Maj. Gen. John F.
