1st time home buyer: Discussion with 1st time home buyers - 01/23/10 09:46 AM

Discussing 1st time home buying, tax credit, and more...
What an exciting time it is when you decide that you're going to look into the possibility of purchasing your first home.  And perhaps that decision to start the process was made with a bit of trepidation.  Just the thought of owning your own home can be exciting, scary, and at times seem impossible.
The 1st time home buyers tax credit has enticed quite a few to start looking into the process.  With inventory decent, rates almost ridiculously low, and the possibility of an $8,000 tax credit your timing is … (2 comments)

1st time home buyer: The clocks ticking away at the chance to cash in on the 1st time home buyers tax credit of $8,000! - 07/24/09 06:01 AM
If you have been sitting on the fence wondering if this is a good time to buy, Prudential Carolinas Realty asked David Knox to prepare this video to explain just how the 1st time home buyers tax credit works and who qualifies!
But please don't hesitate! If your here in the Raleigh area, remember your new home must close by around 2 pm on November 30th in order for it to record at the Wake County Deed of Registers office.  If it doesn't you won't qualify for the tax credit - you'll have missed the deadline.
Another thing to remember is … (4 comments)

Just when you thought an $8,000 tax credit was a great gift from the federal government here comes Mortgage Credit Certificate (MCC) from the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency!
I just got word that there is another federal tax credit for eligible 1st time home buyers here in North Carolina.  It's a tax credit of up to 20% of your annual mortgage interest AND it can be combined with the $8,000 federal tax credit that's in effect until December 2009.  it can save you up to $2,000 each year that you live in your new home in taxes.

1st time home buyer: 7500 tax credit - can 1st time home buyers kick start the economy? - 02/26/09 02:39 PM
7500 tax credit - can 1st time home buyers kick start the economy?

With the massive stimulus bill signed into law by President Obama it's time for all of us to talk with 1st time home buyers.  Couple that 7500 tax credit benefit with the news that the Wall Street Journal put out yesterday saying  "the relative, after-tax cost of owning a home dropped to 125% of the cost of renting a home" why would anyone choose to rent IF they can buy?  Need more reason's to start talking; take into consideration that interest rates are at an all time … (10 comments)

1st time home buyer: LOST: a great part of the stimulus - home buying credit - 02/12/09 10:26 AM
Well it sounds like the once great idea of a $15,000 tax credit to anyone purchasing a home is gone.  This morning we all hear exactly what the Economic stimulus package is all about.  Yahoo news carried a great recap a couple of hours ago.  Complete with a CNBC video of the impact the stimulus will have on the markets with Jeffrey Kleintop, LPL Financial and Mark Vitner, Wachovia Corp.

It’s very unfortunate that the $15K tax credit proposed to kick start the buying market all across the US didn’t make it.  I believe it would have greatly affected the … (5 comments)

1st time home buyer: The Housing and Economic Recovery Act Tax Credit - just what does it mean??? - 08/28/08 09:49 AM

This morning I was thinking about the Housing and Economic Recovery Act recently passed and it got me to thinking about when Lee and I bought our first home.  We had been renting the first few years of our marriage in a suburb of Pittsburgh and we really couldn’t wait to own our own home.  It was Lee’s VA eligibility that allowed us to even consider buying a home.  I don’t  remember how many homes we had looked at but when we found the one on Leon Drive it was perfect for us.  With its 2 bedrooms and a bath … (4 comments)

1st time home buyer: 6 common mistakes 1st Time home buyers make - 07/17/08 07:38 AM
As a 1st time home buyer there are a few things to watch out for as you begin your home search.
•1.  FIND THE RIGHT BUYER'S AGENT!  It's sad but true - not all real estate agents are created equal.  As a 1st time home buyer you will become joined at the hip to your agent.  So be sure to feel comfortable with them.  Not only personality compatible but also confident in their ability to look out for your best interests during the entire process!  The home buying process isn't rocket science but there are many little nuances that an experienced agent … (2 comments)
