northwest houston: New experience in Northwest Houston - 03/10/13 11:51 AM
Along one of our daily routes, a new restaurant appeared.

It was called "The Mellow Mushroom", and appeared to be a Pizza place.

Pizza is on my not too often, due to dietary restraints list.  Almost nothing tastes good enough to feel bad after eating!

Over time, we noticed that it stayed packed all the time, and when my craving for Pizza reached a peak, we decided to give it a try.

The menu is extensive, but they also have a create your own.  That means we can get a pie with less bad for us things … (0 comments)

northwest houston: Waterway Travel.... - 07/29/12 10:20 AM

When people create better ways to experience the ordinary, we get "extraordinary".

Riding buses and most public transportation is not what most of us consider enjoyable.

On the other hand, the idea of riding from shopping area to dining and back to parking facilities is unique and charming.

Imagine gliding down a waterway toward your destinations.  Enjoy the tranquil lapping sounds of the water and sunlight dancing on the ripples created along the way.

This form of transportation exists in The Woodlands.  One more of the many attractions to be found in this thriving forested … (0 comments)

northwest houston: Sometimes we need Chinese Food.... - 12/08/11 12:24 PM
Every once in a while we seem to have a desire for Chinese Food.  In northwest Houston there is a place well worth the trip.  They have good prices, great food and NO MSG.  That to us is a dynamite combination!Lunch is a real bargain coming with soup, egg roll, a heathy portion of one of about 20 selections, fried rice and a fortune cookie. Here is a photo to illustrate.  This wonderful food find at Oriental Garden is on Louetta close to Champions Forest Drive.  The entire lunch menu is under 9$!  Hungry yet?

northwest houston: Time for Entertainment in Northwest Houston! - 08/08/11 04:25 PM

So how often have you seen a squirrel smile?   He or she looks really happy!  I do not know what creates a happy atmosphere for a squirrel, but I think it may have to do with lots of good food.

This cutie was just sort of hanging out.  Maybe he was asking for Ralph to  take a picture of the moment? It will be good to remember this tree by.

It is dying and we are going to have to cut it down to keep it from falling on … (3 comments)

northwest houston: A major YUM! in Northwest Houston.... Bundu Kahn - 06/07/11 02:24 PM
The greater NW Houston area is getting more and more interesting and flavorful places for dining pleasure.

Middle Eastern dishes have proven to be a delightful addition to our eating habits.  We are learning to cook some of these dishes because of the health benefits.  They are also just plain delicious.

One new restaurant is located in the Hobby Lobby shopping center at the corner of Jones Road and FM 1960 near Cypress and Tomball.    It was a serendipitous find.  The place is Bundu Kahn and the menu there features an array of Pakistani treats.

Both of us … (0 comments)

northwest houston: And it all began! Many, Many moons ago! - 08/31/10 05:36 AM
Thirty years ago in people years (not dog years), the very first customer I had worked with  were a delightful couple with stable income and realistic expectations.  We looked at a myriad of homes and these people, who we will call "Bob and Naomi" for the story, came to me right after I had gotten my license.  Real Estate licenses, I soon learned, were licenses to get into trouble. The classes I took did not nearly equip me to serve the needs of anyone.  I knew the basics of how to open houses via lock boxes, to research for the wants … (3 comments)

northwest houston: The Housing Market today is in limbo. - 06/10/09 10:13 AM
Many of the subdivisions that we have been active in in Houston and Northwest Houston since 1978 are stable, but not showing any appreciation right now.  We had become used to annual inflation factors of up to 15% over the years.  While things may not be gaining in value, for the most part they are holding.  Houston has an incredible ability to do better than most of the rest of the nation when it comes to upholding home values.

The largest hurdle right now is getting things to appraise for the value asked for by the seller and offered by … (0 comments)

northwest houston: Of Course You Can Sell Your Home Yourself - 06/05/09 11:43 AM

With all the advances in the information highway, it is just a matter of time before most people will not need a Realtor to sell their homes.  We  thought it would be fun to take a practical look at the whole process.
The most important thing is to establish a price.  That is absolutely crucial.  Unfortunately it is not just a matter of deciding what you would like for the property to sell for.  You may have added a lot of special extras to your home, such as a swimming pool, spa, fancy upgraded kitchen, luxury wall treatments, etc.  These … (3 comments)

northwest houston: Straight Talk About Buying Real Estate... (Part 3) - 06/03/09 01:16 AM
When the price and terms are agreed upon, the earnest money check and a copy of the purchase agreement are usually taken to a neutral party.  This is often a title company, who researches the title of the property to be sure that there are no liens filed against it that would cloud your ownership.  While this is being done, in most cases you would apply formally for a mortgage (if you haven't done so already.)   Selecting your loan officer is an important thing as you will be in touch with them a lot for the next few weeks.  You … (0 comments)

northwest houston: If you love Wildlife, Birds and nature in general... Northwest Houston is the place to be! - 05/31/09 01:23 PM
