fbi: RALPH ROBERTS Fixing the System REAL ESTATE FRAUD 2010 - 02/04/10 03:24 AM

I posted this blog on ActiveRain in October of 2006.  With Mortgage Fraud eroding today's real estate world like locust devouring a jungle, these words bear repeating today. Fixing the System (ActiveRain, October 2006)  "Con artists will always find ways to exploit vulnerabilities in the system, but the system can fight back. My BLOG FLIPPINGFRENZY.COM reveals how everyone involved in real estate--from buyers and sellers to real estate professionals to law enforcement officers and regulators, all the way up to government officials--can work together to close the loopholes and make the system less vulnerable to fraud. Trick or Treat for Mortgage Fraud
Kudos to nationally syndicated political cartoonist and Editorial Cartoonist for the The Columbus Dispatch, Jeff Stahler:
At a time when state and federal authorities absolutely refuse to fund Real Estate and Mortgage Fraud prevention education & training, it's good we have people like Stahler, who, through their everyday work, reach more people than any federally-funded effort ever could. FlippingFrenzy.com

fbi: activerain Do You Want 2 Eliminate Your Mortgage in Less Than a Year? - 07/01/07 01:45 PM
Eliminate Your Mortgage in Less Than a Year?by Ralph Rowland RobertsBanks, mortgage companies, and other lenders offer plenty of legitimate ways to eliminate a mortgage. You can borrow less, refinance for a shorter-term loan at a lower interest rate, make payments every two weeks rather than every month, pay a little extra each month toward the principle, or sell the property.
Now, there's an even better way. Dozens of companies promise to help homeowners completely eliminate their 30-year mortgages in a matter of months for a flat fee of only a few thousand dollars up front!
What a deal! For three thousand … (7 comments)

Cash Back at Closing: Appealing Arrangement or Sinister Scam
by Ralph R. Roberts

Cash back deals are stitched into the very fabric of the U.S. economy. Manufacturers promote their products with cash rebates. Credit card companies offer cash-back on purchases. Even banks dangle cash-back deals to attract new customers. Now, home buyers and con artists are jumping on the cash-back bandwagon, and plenty of our own people -- real estate professionals -- are tripping over themselves to cater to them.
On its surface, cash back at closing seems like a win-win situation. The buyer simply pays a little more for a property than … (16 comments)

Mid-West Tops the List of Real Estate and Mortgage Fraud ‘Hot Spots’With fewer houses selling, increases in foreclosures and real estate prices dropping, the housing market is experiencing the “soft landing” that has been long predicted, and the mid-western United States is once again the most vulnerable part of the country when it to real estate fruad.
