Mike and I have been receiving a lot of inquiries regarding the moratorium on non-judicial foreclosure since the new law was passed recently. The law was passed when it was discovered that lien holders were foreclosing on property that they didn't even own. How could this happen you ask? Well, the mortgage market packages loans and resells them to investors. This can happen over and over again and when this does sometimes the processing of paperwork doesn't catch up with what is going on. During August, sales of 224 single‐family homes and 289 condominiums were reported through the Honolulu Board’s MLS, decreases of 6.3 and 17.0 percent, respectively, from August 2009. The median price paid for island properties in the August was $645,239 for single‐family homes and $307,500 for condominiums, increases of 15.2 percent for single‐family homes and 6.0 percent for condos, compared to the same month last year. According to the Days on Market indicator, sales also closed faster in August with single‐family homes listing for 32 days, down from 49 days, and condominiums down to 33 days from 53.

In this busy world and industry (Real Estate) that we are all a part of, time off is a premium. Making the time and to play with family and friends and getting everyone there is pretty tough. We are not "Gamers" by any stretch of the imagination, in fact the last electronic game I owned was the original Nintendo (1991ish) and I did the "Legend of Zelda" on it and that took me nearly two months to finish.

When speaking to clients or other Realtors, there is this "thing" that some people do that makes me Crazy. While talking to a person and they start with the,"I know him very well's" and the "Oh yes they are very close friends of mine's" and all the name dropping rubbish. Why is that so many professionals feel the need to do this? It is because the lack the confidence in themselves so that they feel the need to be know by their "associations" rather than by their past performance and track record.

Being a Realtor, we at times have transactions where the other Realtor does everything they are supposed to do throughout the entire process...and there are times the other Realtor, simply put, does not. We may never know why the other side dropped the ball but the fact is that it happens.

I had a funny experience a while back. We were in escrow on a Single Family Home in Ewa Beach on Oahu, and the buyers insisted on using a mortgage broker that they knew from their home town in Washington State. My only concern was that they were comfortable with their team so we went forward.
