honolulu real estate: The Sony Open In Hawaii - 01/12/12 05:17 PM
The PGA’s Sony Open in Hawaii is played at the Waialae Country Club on Oahu’s South Shore in the Kahala Area.  This year the event actually began on January 9th but play started today under partly cloudy skies and cool Hawaiian breeze.  The Sony Open brings nearly $25,000,000 in revenue to the State and tons of television coverage, much of which is like a Postcard Video.  No doubt, people will want to come to Honolulu to golf after watching some of the play.

The Kahala Area of Oahu is one of the most prestigious areas to live in the State … (0 comments)

honolulu real estate: SWAM Hawaii is a Wonderful Shop - 11/18/11 04:52 PM

I had a wonderful experience in one of our local stores this afternoon.  The store is called SWAM.  Their website is located at http://www.SWAM.com and the shop is located in Aiea on Oahu in the Waimalu Plaza Shopping Center at 98-1277 Kaahumanu Street, (808) 487-7926.

Aiea has long been known for their upscale homes, city and ocean views and very nice neighborhoods.  Homes in Aiea range from the low $500,000s to well over $1,000,000.  Back to SWAM.

honolulu real estate: U.S. Government Gives a Blank Check to Home Buyers - 01/05/10 01:01 PM
President Obama’s administration made several changes to housing policy over the holidays that will really help current homeowners as well as buyers and sellers for years to come.
The action by the treasury will bring more stability to Hawaii’s real estate market, which is one of the most stable markets in the nation. Their actions will bring more economic confidence to buyers and this combined with low interest rates and lower home prices make it easier to buy homes in Hawaii. There are still programs available to buyers that will give 100% financing eliminating the need for large down payments.

honolulu real estate: Honolulu Condos For Sale - 02/23/09 10:36 PM
Several years ago, when homes prices started to skyrocket across the U.S. and here in Hawaii, there was suddenly a forest of new luxury condominium growth, that is to say, new buildings were sprouting up all over Honolulu proper.  It seems like many of them have had brakes put on them after the market crash in October of 2008, however there are  many that have been completed.  The question was, among locals, "who was going to but the very expensive units?".  Today we know the answer to that question.  There is a nice mix of mainland buyers looking for a nice … (1 comments)

honolulu real estate: Honolulu Real Estate - 01/20/09 12:28 AM
A home in the islands, palm trees, kids playing outside, BBQs all the year round.  Life in Hawaii is good and as we get ready to buy a home or sell our home and buy a bigger one or one closer to town or closer to mom's house or in a better location, we start to play the, "I want the most money for my house I can get and I want an Excellent Deal on the new house" game.

If the home values are going down in your area, it generally means that you could have got more money for your … (0 comments)

honolulu real estate: Honolulu Realtors - 03/24/08 05:43 PM
There is an art to being a great Realtor.  This art can be learned and some are born with the ability to be a GREAT Realtor.  On a larger scale, what we are talking about the the art of Management.  We have all worked for terrible managers, in from what ever industry you have come, and we have all worked for wonderful managers.
It is not a matter of this manager always giving us what we wanted, because chances are that that kind of manager did not have the company's best interest at heart and would not have lasted very long in their … (0 comments)

honolulu real estate: Hawaii's Best Realtors - 03/17/08 04:42 PM
You know, it's a funny thing.  I have always said that if a company or small business has to say the words, "We're the Best..." then they probably are not.
Being the best comes from extending professional service to your clients.  It comes from going above and beyond for every single one of them.  It comes from maintaining familiar and friendly relationships with everyone in the local Real Estate Community.  It comes from returning messages and emails quickly.  It comes from NEVER making someone feel like they are bothering or interrupting you.  It comes from closing deals for your clients so … (2 comments)

honolulu real estate: What is your Corporate Culture? - 03/17/08 03:58 PM
cor*po*rate cul*ture (Noun) 1. A company's values and customs, the values, customs, and traditions of a particular company, usually a large corporation.  2. Atmosphere in large companies.  the professional atmosphere that prevails in large corporations generally, reflected in people's dress, conduct, and ways of communicating.
I was formally trained in the concepts of Corporate Culture when I was working for a Japanese Corporation in Hawaii.  To Japan and Japanese Business, culture is EVERYTHING.  In business, it means going up the Chairman and President's offices to say good morning and back to the same offices when you are done for the day to … (2 comments)

Honolulu may be a small town to some, but to about 1.1 million of us, it is home.  Life in the wonderful city is, well, wonderful!  The people are very nice, the weather is legendary and there are hundreds of parks.  We love sports and anything out of doors here.  Golfing, surfing, biking, running, hiking, baseball, soccer, you name it we do it!

honolulu real estate: Real Estate and the Hawaii Supreme Court - 03/13/08 01:06 AM
The Honolulu Board of Realtors has requested that all members write a letter tp the Hawaii Supreme Court in opposition of this law that it is considering passing.  Do any ARs have anything like this in your areas?
The Hawaii Supreme Court is considering a rule change proposal that would define the unauthorized practice of law in Hawaii . If adopted, the rule would prevent a real estate licensee from explaining certain aspects of a home purchase to consumers, and assisting a client in completing or responding to a Purchase Contract. To put it simply, it would effectively prevent real estate licensees from serving their … (0 comments)

honolulu real estate: Be the Professional - 03/12/08 02:23 PM
There are transactions that come along, ever now and again, that make you want to pull your hair out!  The ones where the other agent has no clue and you end up doing all of the work because that is what it's going to take to get it done for your client.  There are the transactions where the other agent has no clue AND is rude as hell!  Then there are the transactions where the other agent is a non-communicator, in what could be a simple transaction now feels like you're walking around in a fog!
Time and time again, we have … (2 comments)

honolulu real estate: Contact Us... - 03/07/08 01:38 PM
The internet has been around for what seems like forever and we are all used to it by now.  I do have a problem with one part of this very cool onlineness-Internet-communication thing.  You know when you go to a site or web page and you get almost all of the information you need for the project you are working on, all except for that one little piece.  So you go to the Contact Us page.  Once there, a great site will have the company's address, phone, email address' etc.  BUT there are those that only have the email contact and worse … (0 comments)

honolulu real estate: How comfortable are you with money? - 03/07/08 01:06 PM
It's a funny thing.  You can always tell the people who are comfortable with money by the way they speak about it.  If you are a Realtor that would like to start representing buyer & seller clients in the higher end homes and properties in your area, and you have to gasp when you say, "it is being offer at $2.500,000" or you have to take a pause when a client tells you that their budget is $1,800,000 for their new home, you need TO GET OVER IT QUICKLY!
You may never be able to buy one of these properties yourself, but … (5 comments)
