microlending: KIVA Updates - Ya Gotta Read Your Email To Get 'Em - 11/08/07 07:27 AM
Sebastian, Florida
It's important to not only check your email, but the RIGHT email.  Found I'd been getting regular reports about Asia and Dilorom (our two entrepeneurs) and didn't know it.  I had established a new email account on Yahoo that I'd totally spaced on - so here's the latest on KIVA loan repayment as of  an email received 29 Oct 2007:

microlending: KIVA Loans Are Repaid - Ready for Your Involvement? - 05/30/07 12:06 PM
30 May 2007 - Madison, Wisconsin
The biggest fear everyone seems to have when getting involved with certain charities is that of being duped.  Very valid.  One of the aspects of KIVA.org- the efficient and worthwhile microlending website - that I enjoy is the ability to both check on those we sponsor AND get updating emails (which I read but don't always post).
Here's what our little slice of enterprising humanity is doing since early April 2007:
Paying back loans
As you can see, Dilorom is paying back her investors at a decent rate.  It's fun to participate in this very real situation of growth … (9 comments)

microlending: Friends, Rainers, and Countrymen - Lend KIVA Your Ears - and 25 Bucks! - 04/20/07 11:57 PM
20 April 2007 - Madison, Wisconsin
As some of you know, Bill and I are proponents of KIVA, the rapidly growing organization that helps provide microfinance - as microloans - for third world and developing nation business-persons and entrepreneurs.  The loans vary from around $300 to $1400 and every business is pre-screened by partner lenders in the host countries or region.  We helped co-host a KIVA Talkathon last month (see blog) and joined just before that weekend, meaning we became "lenders" (which seems like a good idea and natural evolution for us).
In our attempt to "test the waters" and do a little something we backed two individuals … (15 comments)

microlending: KIVA TALKATHON A SCREAMING SUCCESS - 03/20/07 05:10 PM

Microlending consists of giving small loans to (very) small businesses and entrepeneurs in developing nations, … (6 comments)
