email: Be Careful What You Send Through E-mail - 08/31/09 12:48 PM
This may sound like e-mail 101, but I am seeing common mistakes daily.
There is a thing called BCC (Blind Carbon Copy).  When sending to a large list, use it.  Unless there is some reason to share the e-mail addresses of everyone on the list to each other.  This is a common mistake that is among the most annoying.  If you are reply to a message like that instead of using "Reply to All", hit "Reply" unless everyone on that list needs to see your response.
I get messages from real estate agents and loan officers that are spamming me.  They … (80 comments)

email: E-Mail 101 - 11/29/08 01:29 AM

In a recent blog post I discussed the volume of spam I receive every day: An Internet Thanksgiving Gift
When responding to a comment it hit me.  Too many folks out there do not seem to know basic etiquette when it comes to sending e-mail.
Here are some basics that everyone should know if they plan to send out messages for their business or group.  If you want to win friends and influence people, you will not do it by irritating or harming folks.
Keep the message quick and simple.  No one wants to read the encyclopedia. Avoid sending attachments … (90 comments)

email: Getting Started With SEO, a Rough but Necessary Start - 03/07/08 07:51 PM

It all started when I won the big drawing at the CRS Sell-a-bration in Honolulu.  The grand prize was a very expensive SEO package from Randy Eagar's company Webstarget.  I will write more about that once they are able to complete the project.  I am quite excited to see how much of an impact this makes for my business.
His expert Garrett immediately caught a problem with my website and domain.  This is a lesson that will be useful for many of our members.
The search engines do not recognize my domain names, because they are not parked with the websites.  The … (29 comments)

email: How Lost Would You Be Without E-mail? - 03/07/08 07:04 PM

Have you ever considered how dependant you are on e-mail?  How would you get your business done if your e-mail account went down for a day or two or more?  I am sure that is a scary thought for most of you who are reading this.
Well this is day three and no relief in sight for me.  After more calls to tech support than I can count and several reassurances it will be back up, I am still pulling my hair out.  The scariest part is that no one who sends me an e-mail gets any kind of error message … (28 comments)

email: Internet is a Great Tool, But it Does Not Sell Property - 11/09/06 11:30 PM
As I sit at my computer and ponder the direct our business is heading it strikes me that there are two groups of sales professionals out there.
Group #1:  (Mostly those of us over 40 years old) Depends on relationships and one on one encounters to do business and find customers.
Group #2:  (Mostly those of you under 40 years old) Depends heavily on impersonal means of finding clients; the internet, e-mail, direct mail, discounting and advertising.

Then there are those of use who recognize that you have to belong to both groups.  We heavily depend on personal connections to get clients; friends, … (4 comments)
