Well yes, by the time you are done with it, theft could be involved. Overseas individuals scour the internet looking for homes for sale. Montgomery County (Clarksville, TN) saw a strong rebound in residential sales of 28.7% over 2008 with 3,567 homes sold. New Construction lagged slightly with an increase of 26.2% year over year for 990 sales. The average home value for the year was $150,801; up 1.3% over last year. Higher priced homes did well with a record high of 231 closings for homes in the $250,000 + price range. For 2010, sales in this area could remain relatively flat compared to 2009. I'm lucky enough to be involved in listing a home that was built in 1824. Now this may not seem old to people on the east coast, but 1824 is only 4 years after the first steamboats arrived in here in Clarksville, TN. I feel that it is my sacred duty to find a buyer for this home that will feel an emotional connection to it and appreciate its history. A historic home is not perfect. The Leaf-Chronicle newspaper reported the national information that existing home sales were flattening and prices were cooling. Clarksville and Montgomery County are defying this trend! Nationally, existing home sales declined 1.3 percent from May and were 8.9 percent below June 2005. The median house value was $231,000. The median is a typical market price where half of the homes sold for more and half for less. The Realtracs Multiple Listing System provided me with the detail to obtain the figures for Montgomery County. These numbers include both new and resale homes. Locally, home sales in June were 408.
