being a kid: SENSE OF HUMOR REQUIRES USAGE - 08/01/15 11:27 PM
We all have this. Guaranteed you do! However, if you don't use it, you lose it over time. It goes stale and it takes a mule kick to get you to crack a grin. Having a Mount Rushmore type of face all the time will only freeze that expression making it harder to smile if and when you do. Grin, smile, or laugh while you can! Don't miss out on this!
CAN YOU COME OUT TO PLAY?
Too often we get stuck at the station. What I am saying is that we do too much thinking, assessing and as a result, your kid gets left … (23 comments)

being a kid: THE POWER OF THE LOLLIPOP - 06/30/14 05:07 AM
A lollipop is candy on a stick and the name makes no sense. Yet there isn't a kid that doesn't know about this word and who hasn't had the experience of one of these. The one that sticks (pun) out to me is the Tootsie Roll Pop. When I found out that you can have your Tootsie and eat it too, my world as a kid became more exciting
LOLLIPOPS ARE NO RESPECTER OF PERSONS
I used to by a large box of these and keep them at the Real Estate office. Pretty soon everyone was walking around with sticks coming … (2 comments)

being a kid: I DIDNT KNOW WE WERE POOR - 06/19/13 06:39 AM
There is a magic about being a kid that has nothing to do with thinking, material things or reasons. Kids are just pure products of the innocent moment that is upon them and they join it without hesitation or concern if allowed to do so. Being a kid requires no training or practice either. It is best enjoyed first out on the learning curve and you will never return to that curve again
SUCH A SHORT TIME
I could not get enough of being a kid and cherished it for what it was even though I couldn't tell you at the … (8 comments)

being a kid: REMEMBER WHEN A PENNY MEANT SOMETHING - 04/12/13 11:24 PM
I sensed it long before it became a reality. It was about about 25 years ago that I started not caring about the penny. The 25 years prior to that, I knew that it meant something. You see when I was growing up, a penny did some wonderful things. It actually can make a kid have a sense of wealth. It had purchasing power at the local candy store
A PENNY CAN OPEN SOME PRETTY BIG DOORS
You could go into a candy store (they call them liquor stores today) and not only purchase quite a bit with a penny, but … (11 comments)

being a kid: MY FIRST PAYCHECK WAS FUN AND EDUCATIONAL too - 06/27/12 08:10 AM
When you are a kid and you discover the power of money, life becomes very interesting indeed. Now, all those things that you see that you want can be yours with little or no effort. For me, it was the paper route or delivering newspapers. I already was riding a bicycle all over town all day long, so when I found out you can get paid..GET PAID?
IT'S WAITING FOR YOU
I contact the local guy and he says sure no problem. That was my first real lesson in life. Ask and you may get. Don't ask you don't get. It's … (4 comments)

being a kid: I RELY ON GLASSES TO HAVE TO SEE - 05/23/12 06:59 AM
I took off my glasses to rub my eyes and lay-ed them down. I looked at them. A bunch of glass and metal designed in such a way that it aides my eyes in their duties enabling me to see better. I specifically wear tri-focals which are something else. In essence, the eye needs assistance in seeing far away, up close and then in normal situations. I have been wearing glasses since I was a kid
KIDS HURT KIDS
From about ten on, I needed them. It is not easy going through life wearing glasses as a kid. When you are … (7 comments)

being a kid: THE MYSTERY OF "YOU" KNOWING YOU - 01/08/12 04:14 AM
I am talking about figuring your self out. Who you are, what you like and what you do best and why?. You see it bares repeating that there is not another YOU in the Universe which makes YOU special. For those of us who back burner this subject, both the mid-life crisis and for you women MENOPAUSE will cause you to visit this subject matter eventually
START WITH...WE GREW UP TOO FAST
We grow up too fast for many different reasons some good and some not so good. But the fact is that whatever happened, at some point, we all must … (6 comments)

being a kid: CHRISTMAS REMAINS THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR - 12/12/11 04:29 AM
When I was a kid, which means I knew nothing about everything, I was made aware of Santa Claus. I had no trouble believing that some guy rode around in a sleigh delivering packages on Xmas. I did not have the intelligence or the grace to challenge it and had a ball watching the stories and pondering it all. But it got better...
SANTA HAD REINDEER? EIGHT OF THEM?
Imagine the surprise of a child to learn that his reindeer where his pets and that he named them all. This really bonded me to Santa and made me want to know … (0 comments)

being a kid: EYE GLASSES WHEN THEY ARE CLEAN THE WORLD APPEARS A BETTER PLACE - 11/20/11 01:48 AM
I have been wearing eye glasses since I was a kid. It is not easy to for a kid to wear glasses for many reasons. However, you get used to it and in time, don't even realize there is something on your nose. Of course there is always some other kid that will remark about your 4 eyes and that causes one to take note
WORKING AND GOING TO SCHOOL

being a kid: MY FIRST TWO JOBS WERE THE BEST - 10/23/11 04:34 AM
When I was growing up, a penny did some amazing things. I mean you could get several pieces of candy for a penny or for a few pennies more some very impressive things like small cokes, and pretzels and water pistols. If you came into the big money, well a comic book or some baseball cards were the reward of the day
WHEN I GROW UP
I remember thinking that when I grow up, I am going to have all the grape juice I can drink, the cereal I can eat, start a comic book collection and sleep in late every … (9 comments)

being a kid: INNOCENSE AT WORK AND A PLEASURE TO BEHOLD TOO - 09/19/11 07:48 AM
Here it is (BELOW PICTURE) just for your enjoyment a gentle reminder of the simplicity of life, the care free attitude of it all and how living it can be very rewarding. Watching others live it can remind us to check in with ourselves and see how we are doing. How ARE you doing...?

Are we too not watched over, provided for, and under the best surveillance known?

being a kid: ICE CREAM TO A KID AND ICE CREAM TO AN ADULT IT'S NOT THE SAME - 09/19/11 04:03 AM
You see to an adult, ice cream is part of life to pass through. To a kid, it is life and there is nothing else. As a  kid eats ice cream, they enter into a world of their own full of sights and sounds muffled only by the thought of making sure nothing drips and gets away while you are eating. Whether on a cone, a stick or in a cup...this stuff makes memories
THE SECRET TO LIFE...ICE CREAM?

being a kid: TIMING FOR ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING IS IMPORTANT FIND YOUR FLOW - 08/25/11 07:57 AM
I remember when I was in 5th grade. The only thing I liked about that was recess where we could form teams and race, play dodge ball, laugh and have fun. I wasn't ready to want to learn anything else. But you see the pressure is on for you to catch the systems requirements of schooling. That doesn't mean that it is my flow
I WANTED ADVENTURE

I wanted to adventure and I did so. I used my then talent and skills to DITCH school for about 2 months. It was very well done too. Remember, this is in the … (0 comments)

being a kid: ANT FARMS...BEFORE REAL ESTATE FARMS, CROP FARMING...ANT FARMS - 07/18/11 01:36 PM
They used to advertise them in the back of comic books. As a kid, I used to find them fascinating when you saw them in large amounts any where. You can follow their trail until it goes into a tiny hole somewhere. Some guy didn't settle for that. He went ahead and let us view what happens when they disappeared....he created the ant farm
ONLY IN AMERICA....$$$
It is an amazing thing really. You would see them in toy stores everywhere. I used to read the boxes and it would tell a fascinating story and the pictures were good too. Of … (6 comments)

being a kid: BEING DEPRIVED....if you dont know you are, it is not so bad..... - 05/26/11 01:12 PM
Here I am a kid growing up in New York doing what kids do. I run, I jump, I skip, and I leap and before you know it, my sneakers are worn down past the sole, the inner part and now you can see my sock. I usually went past that point because I learned to put a piece of cardboard inside the shoe which covered the hole
THE SHOE STILL WORKS
Of course that bought you some time, but during that time, I managed to wear the sneaker down so bad that the bottom sole would separate from the top … (6 comments)

being a kid: THE VENUS FLY TRAP......and raising children - 05/17/11 02:19 AM
You have heard about this plant. When I was a kid, I couldn't believe that this plant existed and did the things it does. They used to advertise in comic books so it is a quality product. It secretes a sweet smell designed to attract a fly or small insect and once on board, the trap is sprung and you cannot get out...Then, slowly it releases a fluid that starts to dissolve the catch over time....
THIS IS A MUST HAVE
I went and bought one of these things in my younger years. It looks like it is from another planet. … (4 comments)

being a kid: IS THERE A SONG IN YOUR HEART.....? - 05/14/11 02:42 AM
The other day I was walking along when a young woman stranger approaching me who was whistling a tune...one of my favorites. It was from the Wizard of Oz  and it goes.....Ha - ha - ha, Ho - ho - ho - And a couple of tra - la - las...That's how we laugh the day away, In the Merry Old Land of Oz!

being a kid: THE THREE STOOGES...if you dont like them, well something is wrong - 04/26/11 06:29 AM
Lately I have been using something when talking to people that tells me everything I want to know. Doesn't matter what the subject is we are discussing. At some point, I will bring up whether or not you liked the Three Stooges and if you don't respond correctly, I have formed an opinion about you
I CHOSE A SIDE
I admit to be judgmental here. I have watched all their shorts growing up and as an adult. I defy anyone to sit through one of their showings and not smile or laugh. Failure to be moved by the Three Stooges tells … (6 comments)

being a kid: SNOW CONES, COTTON CANDY and DENTISTS TO AFGHANISTAN AND IRAQ - 03/15/11 01:57 PM
You see that is what is wrong with the world plain and simple. There isn't enough of the generous joys of the things that make life take on meaning and carefree-ness. Stuff that makes you relax and kid like. I am talking about the little pleasures that give value to the pause in your life while you are indulging yourself.
Snow Cones have been around for quite some time. The idea of taking snow and pouring syrup on it must have occurred to people ever since there was maple trees and snow. Today, you can get flavors..lots of flavors all giving … (0 comments)

being a kid: GROWING UP & WHAT KIDS DO - 10/11/10 01:38 AM
When I was growing up in Brooklyn, New York, there were certain things that KIDS were required to know. I have made a small list below and perhaps you share some of these in common....One of them was the ability to speak Pig Latin. The world of "KIDS" remains a fascinating world.......
Things required in my neighborhood:
1. Pig Latin. It was used to have fun and make points. Mostly for laughs, but it also has bonding opportunities between the users too. I even put it on my resume and job applications where it asks..do you speak other languages....yes....Pig Latin fluently. No … (13 comments)
