In the 1938 version of A Christmas Carol, we are introduced to an exchange or greeting between Scrooge and his nephew. The nephew loves life, goodness and its terms...things he learned from Scrooge's good sister (his mother) while Uncle Scrooge acts out the drudgery and woe of life things he learned through injustice and resentment. Two different beliefs clash and here is the exchange
Fred: A Merry Christmas to you, uncle! Ebenezer Scrooge: Bah! Humbug... What reason have you to be merry? You're poor enough. Fred: What reason have you to be so dismal? You're rich enough. Ebenezer Scrooge: BAH! (2 comments)
