It all comes down to people who do and people who don't and the ones that have a story. When my clients contact me, they get me. That is part of the value. You see because I took being available and made it part of my branding, when someone is introduced to it, they instantly become satisfied. Yes to handing out your business cards. When attending functions and gatherings and one person would whoop out their cards and start handing them out, that would cause another to do the same until the whole room was swapping cards. Then, it left as quickly as it came WHAT TO DO WITH IT ALL? Then, you had these card type book folders or indexes, hard cover with plastic inserts where a business cards fits perfectly in a slot. That's what I used to tell people decades ago when we had an important business to conduct. Trying to get a hold of someone by phone was the pony express of the day. If the line was busy, try try again. Then, they came out with call waiting. This let you know another call was coming in HOW RUDE WAS BORN People who were put on hold so the other person could answer the call waiting thought it rude and put up with it until they couldn't and just hung up. Unless you are running an Emergency treatment room staffed for 24 hour shifts, who works 24/7? Sometimes we make a point by saying we do but lets face it, Real Estate agents and other Real Estate centered folks will not answer the phone at certain times DAILY PERFORMANCES Consider that the Real Estate industry is geared toward certain working hours having to do with business and perhaps consultations. There was a time when the phone rang and people were eager to answer it. They did not know who was calling but only that someone was. It could be your job, your family, a friend, neighbor or an appointment. Yes, it could also be the wrong number and a solicitor too OH...THAT Today, we get to choose who we want to speak with and the caller will never know. I was retired and readying myself to approach R.E.M. or rapid eye movement sleep or rest when my cell phone went off with a text message. I don't normally get any messages at night so in my near dream state, I concluded this must be important. My business is steady and flowing and it comes from people who got a hold of me. They are so happy to get a live person that sometimes they repeat themselves trying to make sure it is not a recording. Rainmakers speak from their experience, they surrender their wealth of information liberally and they throw in a little keepsake of a sort. It is their picture that seals the memory or experience not once but over and over again. I noticed that pictures with poses, stands, statements and profiles all SPEAKING BODY TALK PICTURESPEAK If you look at everyone's picture which is entertaining, you can get a type of temporary Real Estate blindness. I don't understand how there can be any communications problems now a days....Between, cell phone, texting and emails...if you cant be reached, you need to review all your systems STARTING WITH YOUR OWN BELIEFS...Another worthy mention is that when moving high end product like cars, jewelry and homes, being available is the default or am I dreaming here? I AM HERE...WHERE? RIGHT HERE My smart phone gets emails all day long. I am instantly on notice when they come in and I respond accordingly. I get texted all day long and text back. Who in their right mind answers the phone on the first ring? It can cause a rise in blood pressure or even a heart attack in those making calls. We all know that the first ring is to announce that a call is coming in. Then, the second or third ring gives a person time to answer. They have to reach and then navigate the phone into the answering position... I AM LOVED JUST FOR ANSWERING I still startle people now and then by actually answering on the first or second ring. First and foremost, I want to bring up being available. You have web presence, a site, posts, blogs, comments, ads, leave behinds, signs and word of mouth plus business cards out there promoting you and what you do. The next logical step is to respond. It all comes down to being available and responding. The title of this post applies to any subject you can imagine. How about your boss is trying to explain something to you and he/she doesn't do a very good job of it and you are tempted to judge them on presentation and when you do so, you missed the message. I was shaving with a well known brand shaver and then shut it off when a beeping noise and a flashing screen appeared...screaming REPLACE HEADS..blinking on/off...beep beep etc...Last week, this same shaver spoke up and said CLEAN HEADS blinking on/off...beep beep etc.. The week before that, my shaver spoke and said CHARGE NOW..blinking on/off beep beep etc. ALRIGHT...WHAT IS IT NOW OK...I will admit there is some usefulness to it.
