RAPB has the Tax Credit info You NEED to Know

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 offers an

$8,000 tax credit for first-time buyers who purchase a home on or after Jan. 1, 2009, and before Dec. 1, 2009. Unlike previous tax credits for first-time buyers, this one doesn't have to be repaid.

It's almost license renewal time again!

If you are a Florida real estate licensee and you would like to check on your Continuing Education credits, please follow the directions below:

To view your Continuing Education Credits online through the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR).

•1. Go to this Web site: http://www.myflorida.com/dbpr/

•2. Click on DBPR Online Services at the upper left side of the page.

•3. Under User Services click on My Continuing Education.

•4. If this is your first time using the site, under Path 1, click on GO.

•5. If you have used the site before, under Path 2, click on GO.

•6. If you don't have the initial Personal Identification Number (PIN) sent to you from DBPR, please call 850.487.1395 for assistance.

Your initial PIN number should be the last four digits of your Social Security number or Federal Tax ID number. If neither of those numbers works, call the Customer Contact Center at 850.487.1395. The Customer Contact Center hours of operations are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. EST.

It is very important that you keep all your continuing education letters to validate your coursework.
These letters will tell you the course names and how many credits you received. If the credits did not get transmitted successfully to DBPR, then you will be able to use the letters to verify your attendance.

More than 100 people attended an organizational meeting Thursday at the Wellington Community Center to participate in a cooperative effort between the village and the Realtors Association of the Palm Beaches to develop plans for dealing with the growing number of homes in Wellington facing foreclosure.

The meeting was aimed at homeowners who face losing their homes and community associations that are dealing with empty homes in their neighborhoods.

Plans call for a number of symposiums over the next year to advise people in the area who face foreclosure or have lost their homes already, according to Wellington official Ivy Rosenberg, who explained that Thursday's meeting, titled "Foreclosure 911," was held to get ideas from residents about what speakers and topics would be most useful. How to View Your Continuing Education Credits Online in Florida

You know you've taken courses offering continuing education credits, but you just can't remember how many? Have you completed the continuing education requirements needed for license renewal? Has the course sponsor reported your earned credits to the state? Don't know where to find the answers to these questions?

Just visit the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) website and in minutes you'll have the answers to these questions! How do you access the website? We're glad you asked! Just follow these directions and you will see...

Go to the following website:

https://www.myfloridalicense.com/ActivateAccountInstruct.asp?Page=licensesummary.asp&SID=

On the left hand side of the page under User Services, click on "View Continuing Ed"

If this is your first time accessing DBPR Online Services, click on "Activate Your Online Services Account" and complete the information under "Enter Initial Pin" (your initial pin number should be the last four digits of your social security number or Federal Tax ID number. If neither of those work, call the Customer Contact Center at 850-487-1395 for assistance. the Center is open Monday-Friday, 8am-6pm and Saturday 10am-2pm, EST.)

Once you have set up your ID and pin number, you are granted access to your online account at any time!

30 Under 30 - Jan. 12 Deadline

Each June, REALTOR® Magazine features 30 rising young stars in the real estate industry. Now's your chance to be considered for the 2009 class of "30 Under 30." On this page you will be able to access an application and find answers to your questions.
Who is eligible?
Any REALTOR® member of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® who is under age 30 as of May 31, 2009, and who has not been profiled in a previous "30 Under 30" feature is eligible for the 2009 feature.

How do I apply?
We began accepting applications for the 2009 "30 Under 30" feature on Sept. 22. The online application form is available on this page. Applications must be submitted by 11 p.m. CST, Monday Jan. 12, 2009.

How do I make changes to an application I've already submitted?
You can retrieve your saved application using the e-mail address and password that you designated when you started your application. Changes are accepted while the application period is open. All changes and updates to your application must be completed by 11 p.m. CST, Monday Jan. 12, 2009.

What's the deadline?
The deadline for submissions and application changes for the 2009 feature is 11 p.m. CST, Monday Jan. 12, 2009.

What criteria are used to determine who makes the list?
We look for candidates who are successful in the real estate business and have demonstrated ingenuity and creativity in their careers. We look for innovative marketing ideas, unique personal stories, tales of triumph, and leadership in the community and the profession. We also strive to ensure that our "30 Under 30" honorees represent the diversity that exists in the business.

Will I be notified if I'm selected?

All applicants will receive an e-mail in May 2009 notifying them of their status.

We are going to be hosting the new "Green" Designation from NAR in April combined with an expo and I am looking for suggestions on companies that may want to participate. We are looking for Real Estate related companies that offer products or services that are "Green" that our Realtor members can suggest and use for their clients. The expo is going to be held in either Boca Raton or Lake Worth, Florida.
