nar: Code of Ethics Online - 12/16/08 04:46 AM
The deadline is approaching fast and there are still a lot of members who have not yet completed their mandatory Code of Ethics training. 
The Code of Ethics, mandated by the National Association of Realtors says that ALL Realtor members must complete a 2.5 hour ethics training every 4 years as set by NAR.  This 4 year cycle will be ending December 31st, 2008. 
If you have not completed your ethics training please make sure you do so by the end of the year or NAR will be SUSPENDING your membership and then soon after they will TERMINATE you and you will … (4 comments)

If you are a Realtor, meaning you are a member of your local Realtor Association, you MUST take the NAR Mandated Code of Ethics between January 1st, 2005 and December 31st, 2008 or you will LOSE YOUR REALTOR MEMBERSHIP!!!
I know it's hard to remember when it was last taken...something you may have done 4 years ago is hard for anyone to keep track of.

I apologize for the length of this blog but I have a lot of great info to share!
According to the 2008 NAR Profile of International Buyers, North America, Europe and Asia accounted for more than 85 percent of foreign home buying transactions between May 2007 and May 2008.
Six countries accounted for the majority of international purchasers.
The top six countries of origin for foreign home buyers were:
Canada The United Kingdom Mexico China India Germany Canada and the U.K. accounted for 36.1 percent of purchasers.

Congratulations to Michael Owen of Delray Beach, FL, a very active member of the Realtors Association of the Palm Beaches (RAPB) for receiving the National Association of Realtors 2008 Distinguished Service Award this weekend at the National Convention.  Out of 1.2 milllion Realtors, no more than two are recognized with this award each year.

I was asked to attend the CEREAN (Central European Real Estate Associations Network) Conference and to help continue NAR's efforts to establish a relationship with Turkey's Istanbul Chamber of Real Estate Brokers. Attention all Realtors:
Since the Code of Ethics is so important, the board of the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) has mandated effective January 1, 2005, that every four years all Realtors® must complete a 2 1/2 hour course of instruction on the Realtors® Code of Ethics, as a condition of membership. This is mandatory and not optional.  The course must be completed by December 31, 2008.  All Realtor® members will have to comply or your Realtor membership will be DROPPED!

nar: Settlement made regarding NAR's multiple listing policy on Virtual Web Sites - 07/09/08 08:29 AM
On May 27, 2008, NAR and the U.S. Department of Justice reached a favorable settlement, concluding a two-year DOJ investigation (followed by two and a half years of litigation) regarding NAR's multiple listing policy as it pertained to the display of listings from the MLS on brokers' virtual office Web sites, or VOWs.
