The annual Black Hills Duck Race was held July 29, 2007.  Over 18,000 rubber duckies were dropped into Rapid Creek at the west-side McDonalds at 2:00pm.  They floated all the way down Rapid Creek and the first 33 duckies to cross the finish line brought some very nice prices to their owners!

We are quickly approaching the annual Sturgis Bike Week in the Black Hills of South Dakota!  The festivities don't really begin until the second week in August but the motorcycles will start pooring in any day now.
With this great tourist event come many motorcycle enthusiasts from all of the US and around the world!  (Yes - people ship their bikes from New Zealand, Europe, etc.).
Rapid City and all the little towns around the Black Hills have a love/hate relationship with this event.  The tourism dollars are WONDERFUL but the inability to drive anywhere without being surrounded by motorcycles is somewhat unnerving.  … (0 comments)

Yes - I know......we've been in a slump for such a long time that it's difficult to think about getting your house ready to sell or putting it back on the market after having such poor luck over the past year or so.
I can't emphasize enough that this is the PERFECT time to sell your home.  Properties that are in good condition (clutter free, clean, smell nice, etc.) are literally flying off the market within days of being listed.  OK - some take a week or two but the turn-around time on many of the new listings I've seen is INCREDIBLE!

Back in the "Good Ole Days" of 2004 and 2005 before the nationwide scare of the real estate bubble, buyers knew they had to be a little more aggressive if they wanted to get that PERFECT home before someone else snatched it up.
Then the gloom and doom from the media and the perception changed.  Buyers stopped buying and sellers stopped selling and everyone sort of sat back to wait and see what was going to happen.  The new construction industry slowed WAY down and realized people aren't going to pay a premium just to say they have a "new" house, especially … (7 comments)

After an incredibly slow fall and winter, the Rapid City real estate market is finally starting to take off. Sellers who withdrew their properties from the market last fall should be getting their homes ready to show again as the buyers are already out there and getting frustrated in the lack of inventory to choose from.Yes - there is still WAY too much new construction -- most of which isn't too appealing to the buyers I've met with since they can see as well as I can the overwhelming number of quickly built, inferior homes that continue to flood our market. … (0 comments)
