localismcom: I'm in print - Thanks Ralph! - 08/24/07 06:53 PM
Today I had a surprise visit from the UPS truck - which around my house is somewhat reminiscent of the Wells Fargo Wagon in The Music Man..."It could be curtains, or dishes, or a double boiler! Or is could be - yes it could be, somethin' special - JUST FOR ME!" I was happy and excited to have received my copy of the new book by fellow Active Rainer, Ralph Roberts, Foreclosure Investing for DUMMIES! Ralph had contacted me awhile back to be his South Dakota contact person to be listed in his upcoming publication! I graciously accepted as I also have a fairly (3 comments)
You'll fall in love with this immaculate 4 bedroom, 1 bath, 1 car garage home located in southeast Rapid City (close to Robbinsdale Elementary). Gorgeous professionally refinished wood flooring in the living room and 3 bedrooms and the 4th bedroom/family room area has brand new top of the line carpeting. New forced -air furnace and beautiful new upper-end maple cabinets from Merillat. This home is listed for $118,000.00 but an appraisal done in July of 2007 valued the home at $119,000. Homes of this quality in this price range are becoming very difficult to find so if you are an investor or a (0 comments)
localismcom: Duck Race - 2007! - 07/30/07 02:44 PM
The annual Black Hills Duck Race was held July 29, 2007. Over 18,000 rubber duckies were dropped into Rapid Creek at the west-side McDonalds at 2:00pm. They floated all the way down Rapid Creek and the first 33 duckies to cross the finish line brought some very nice prices to their owners!
Below is a list of the winners for the 2007 race which raised over $90,000 for the Children's Miracle Network: 1st place: $5,000 from McDonalds: Alyssa Soesbe of Black Hawk 2nd place: $7,000 Spa from the Pool And Spa Center: Angela Lewan of Rapid City 3rd placee: $2,000 cash from American Family Insurance: Mary Hendricks (0 comments)
localismcom: Sturgis Bike Rally - Ride Safe! - 07/25/07 09:29 PM
We are quickly approaching the annual Sturgis Bike Week in the Black Hills of South Dakota! The festivities don't really begin until the second week in August but the motorcycles will start pooring in any day now. With this great tourist event come many motorcycle enthusiasts from all of the US and around the world! (Yes - people ship their bikes from New Zealand, Europe, etc.). Rapid City and all the little towns around the Black Hills have a love/hate relationship with this event. The tourism dollars are WONDERFUL but the inability to drive anywhere without being surrounded by motorcycles is somewhat unnerving. (0 comments)

localismcom: RAPID CITY SELLERS - WHERE ARE YOU??? - 04/26/07 09:52 PM
Yes - I know......we've been in a slump for such a long time that it's difficult to think about getting your house ready to sell or putting it back on the market after having such poor luck over the past year or so. I can't emphasize enough that this is the PERFECT time to sell your home. Properties that are in good condition (clutter free, clean, smell nice, etc.) are literally flying off the market within days of being listed. OK - some take a week or two but the turn-around time on many of the new listings I've seen is INCREDIBLE! This (0 comments)
localismcom: He who hesitates has to find another house. - 04/13/07 07:57 PM
Back in the "Good Ole Days" of 2004 and 2005 before the nationwide scare of the real estate bubble, buyers knew they had to be a little more aggressive if they wanted to get that PERFECT home before someone else snatched it up. Then the gloom and doom from the media and the perception changed. Buyers stopped buying and sellers stopped selling and everyone sort of sat back to wait and see what was going to happen. The new construction industry slowed WAY down and realized people aren't going to pay a premium just to say they have a "new" house, especially (7 comments)

After an incredibly slow fall and winter, the Rapid City real estate market is finally starting to take off. Sellers who withdrew their properties from the market last fall should be getting their homes ready to show again as the buyers are already out there and getting frustrated in the lack of inventory to choose from.Yes - there is still WAY too much new construction -- most of which isn't too appealing to the buyers I've met with since they can see as well as I can the overwhelming number of quickly built, inferior homes that continue to flood our market. localismcom: Localism.com - How do you post listings? - 02/08/07 06:09 PM
I'm relatively new to the AR community but have figured out quite a few things on my own and through the help of everyone's useful & informative blogs. I am excited about the new localism.com beta site but am wondering how we go about adding listing content, news events, etc. to that site. Looks like quite a few other states have this figured out but I'd love it if someone could get me up to speed! We had a beautiful snow fall today and all the frost covered trees were so pretty and all I could think was "I wish I had (7 comments)
