A good Mentor is hard to come by - 02/25/08 02:36 PM
It seems that many "New Realtors" once they get their license, don't know what to do next. Everything is overwhelming and you don't want to make a mistake.
My own experience was that, but I was lucky and had some one that helped me every step of the way! That was Sue J, on Team RJ. Sue J is passionate about this business and fellow Realtors. She is always looking at new technology and sharing her knowledge. Sue J. went with me on my fist listing and reviewed my first purchase offer. She gave me the confidence to tackle the next client. … (6 comments)

a Weathermen... stilll gets paid - 02/22/08 04:39 PM
I set here, at the end of the day in New York, with a glass of wine in hand, contemplating why I am here shoveling SNOW, for the fourth time today. The "WEATHERMAN" said 3-6" we are now at 10-12" and it hasn't stopped! I went to the office rescheduled appointments and made calls. I didn't get paid. The weatherman got paid for not making an accurate prediction! I didn't sell the house... I didn't get paid!!! Maybe I should reconsider what I do... I don't always have to be on, if I predict weather. Well, I'll have another glass of wine and … (1 comments)

The REAL Team - 02/21/08 08:07 PM
There are many "Team" concepts out there. I must say that I like the way our "Team" works !
Our "Team" concept is to maximize each individuals strength, for the good of the "Team" We have 11 on our team, There is the commercial, then the residential side and support team. Four years ago, the team moved forward to add a Buyer Agent to the "Team" to support that niche,(Me). We support each other in a variety of ways. When we get really busy we can step in for each other. There is mentoring support, and probably best of all we … (2 comments)

Don't Forget The Angry White Man - 02/20/08 04:04 PM
Since this is the season of politics, I thought I'd share this. I found it rather amusing and entertaining.
In election 2008, don't forget Angry White Man
Gary Hubbell, Aspen TimesFebruary 9, 2008There is a great amount of interest in this year's presidential elections, as everybody seems to recognize that our next president has to be a lot better than George Bush. The Democrats are riding high with two groundbreaking candidates - a woman and an African-American - while the conservative Republicans are in a quandary about their party's nod to a quasi-liberal maverick, John McCain. Each candidate is carefully pandering to a smorgasbord … (3 comments)

Life is good, Pass the bread - 02/17/08 04:54 PM
I love Sundays!!! It's the one day of the week I try to keep for me and my family. Today, we all had lunch together at "Pop's" ,there were 12 of us! Chicken cacciatore, home made, the old way, by "POP", himself! When we gathered around the table, what noise! Everyone talking, telling stories, and above it all was, "PASS THE BREAD", what fun! "LIFE IS GOOD"!!! Create or choose a "special time" for your friends and family...and keep it our days go by way too fast! … (3 comments)

Update your internet response - 02/10/08 03:19 PM
Today is when I sit down and plan out my project for the week, that would help further promote my business. I began thinking about my Internet leads. As this is where approximately 1/3 of my business is generated. I believe I have a good return. This could be an overlooked opportunity. On my walk to work I realized that the number of listing opportunities for Sue J (Listing Agent, for our Team) had started to decrease. I came in the office and she was doing some statistics. I mentioned that I thought the inventory was becoming somewhat stagnant, and that … (1 comments)

"It's a Beautiful day in the Neighborhood" - 02/08/08 06:38 AM
Well, my eyes are clouded over this morning and Pepe, my chihuahua, says he's not getting out of bed. Which means, don't leave me, come back to bed and keep me warm. I resist the temptation and head to the coffee pot. Yes, I tell myself, "it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood". I'ts 20 degrees, gray and overcast, the promise of rain (again), I have to walk outside and pick up the paper...and order heating oil!!! Yes, another Great day... Then comes....my first cup (of many) cups of coffee. I see that it's gonna get warmer, Pepe is lazy, the morning … (4 comments)

Effective in-exspensive ways to attract buyers - 02/07/08 07:24 AM
Top of the mornin... I was fortunate enough to start  as a Realtor when the market was just booming... my sphere and leads were enough to make  me a top performer. However, I didn't really need to define and refine myself as a Agent. I have always been a Buyers Agent for my team, but now I'm seeking out some ideas on cost effective ways to attract new Buyer clients. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated

Yesterday, is today , tomorrow! - 02/06/08 05:49 AM
Now, that's alot to think about and embrace. However, we all succumb to wishing we had done this or that yesterday. This quote I use to remind me I can change! Change, what I failed to do yesterday, and complete today, ask forgivness, seek reconcilliation. It also keeps me forward thinking, in that tomorrow, is today, tomorrow. So, why put off to tomorrow, what you can do today.
For me, this is my motivation reminder to "JUST DO IT" your gonna have to, eventually!
As a successful  Realtor, you must be proactive, looking ahead for new opportunities to set yourself apart, yesterday, … (3 comments)

Grandkids say the Darndest things - 02/05/08 06:07 AM
One of the things I like most about being a Realtor is the flexibility it affords you. I can drop things in an emergency and help out, babysit, deliver a meal to the elderly. It's great!!! For the most part I AM in CONTROL of my schedule. Now, I know this isn't news to you... but sometimes we need to step back and look at the BUSY things we do when we give up family time.
I try not to give up family time with my grandkids. And yesterday was a gem! I'm so glad i could babysit for my son's … (5 comments)

Realtors need to respond to the Media's negitivity - 02/03/08 07:49 AM
As Realtors it is time to take action and battle the negitivity by the media. It is damaging our market, our credibility as professionals and our pocketbooks! This current market is a market of opportunity... for Buyers and Investors. The borrowing rates are adjusting downward and are still at some of the lowest rates in 30 years. The pricing of properties are in the Buyers favor, and you have something to choose from now. You don't have to settle! There are opportunities in new construction homes that are already built. Builders have and are open to a variety of incentives and buy-downs.
