Hawaii Island has seen its population grow about 8% over the last decade. In the 2020 census the population of the Big Island reached 200,000. The Kona District has been growing too but it still has the small town charm and laid back lifestyle that people love. So, why are people moving to Kona, Hawaii? ~ Everyone loves the weather. Canadians have known for a long time now that Kona, Hawaii is the place to go to take a break from their cold Winter weather. The Kona Coast is the only part of the Hawaiian Islands that has it's dry season during Winter.
