Mahaiula Beach is located within the Keha Kai State Park about 8 miles North of Kailua-Kona. The access road off of Hwy 11 is between mile markers 88 and 89. The 1.5 mile road is unpaved and full bumps and potholes; but it doesn't seem to deter the tourists from taking their rental cars across the desolate looking lava field.
