Active Rain/Kodak Challenge - All about flyers… - 04/28/11 04:54 AM
As stated in a previous companion blog What's in a yard sign?  I tend to have quite a few condominiums and coops for listings.  Although I have houses as well, condos represent a specific problem.  One unit can look like a million other units if you are not careful.  The last thing you want is for the buyer to remember the unit as one giant YAWN!  Flyers need good photos...So in this case - flyers for buyers are left in the unit as something they can take away with them and remind them of what made the unit I am listing … (8 comments)

First Signs of Spring – The Rockefeller Preserve – Sleepy Hollow NY - 04/25/11 09:56 AM
After so much snow during the winter months and wet weather in general, it was great to get a nice day to simply go out and enjoy seeing the sun….I managed to escape to the Rockefeller Preserve around 4 PM for a late afternoon walk.  Although the spring has been late – I was determined to get some pictures that show spring is here….The peonies from the Peonies monument in honor of the victims of 9/11/2oo1 are starting to bud.  Soon they will be in full bloom, but in the meantime you can see the buds on the left.  The Cherry … (8 comments)

Tom Roach Sworn in as the 18th Mayor of White Plains NY - 04/15/11 06:06 AM

The ceremony was simple but there was a goodly crowd outside of City Hall on a perfect spring evening to watch the swearing in of Mayor Roach as the city’s 18th mayor.   I had been on the road much of the day and was fortunate enough to make it to the event and  to have my camera  – so enjoy the photos.  I was actually carrying the right lens for such an event!
The speech was apolitical and I was impressed as Mayor Roach gave thanks to his family and friends and city employees.  If nothing else the ceremony signaled … (8 comments)

ActiveRain/Kodak Challenge - What's in a Yard Sign? - 04/14/11 02:06 AM
Truth be told - I don't have many yard signs at all.   Right now I don't have any signs out - so I can't even site an example in a photo.  Most of my listings are of the condo/coop variety but when I do have a sign up my main goal is to make it easy for potential buyers to access information about that particular home.
My Sign Riders....
To that end - I have two sign riders in place.  The first has a direct line to my cell phone so they can simply call directly.  The second rider contains an … (10 comments)

Christie Place – Scarsdale NY – 55+ Community - - 04/11/11 09:36 AM

This post is dedicated to Lenn Harley - because she recently wrote a blog about 55+ communities in Fredrick County VA.  I reaized I had taken some photos of a very unique 55+ community in Scarsdale NY.  It was a stormy day and perhaps I had it in mind to return on a more sunny day. However, the complex is beautiful no matter what the weather - so here it is.
When talking about Scarsdale homes for sale, people seldom think of 55+ communities.  But that’s changing now.  Christie Place of Scarsdale NY  is one of the few Westchester Condos … (7 comments)

Freaky Friday – Snake about town – a.k.a. the Bronx Zoo Cobra is a Twitter sssssenssssation… - 04/01/11 07:45 AM

Every once in a while someone does something very clever on Twitter.  The Bronx Zoo cobra has done just that – telling of her exploits while traveling NYC.
For those who  have literally been hiding under a rock with their pet cobras – The Bronx Zoo reported a missing female Egyptian cobra.   Until last night she was out on the town and having a great time according to her twitter page. Within days she had almost 222,000 followers….Wish I was that popular – but then I don’t lead nearly as an exciting a life as she does…..
If you want … (10 comments)

White Plains NY elects Tom Roach in a special election for mayor - 04/01/11 07:12 AM

After mentioning the special election in two previous  blogs – including one that embedded the mayoral debate , it would be anticlimactic not to mention the results.
Election Results: The turnout was low – as was expected, but Tom Roach (D)  won a decisive victory  winning 52% of the vote with Bob Hyland (R ) winning 35% and Glenn Hockley (I)  taking in 15% of the vote.
There were only 8700 ballets cast  in this special election – which is sad given the estimated population of over 57,000.  So that probably translates into something under  25% of the eligible voters … (1 comments)
