google: The AdWords Secret for More Results with Less Spending - 05/29/12 06:50 AM
There are only two people in the world who really know how Google's search algorithms work ... I'm not one of them, and those two don't agree.  That's from a website full of SEO guru jokes, most just adapted from attorney jokes.  I want to make it clear that I do not consult on SEO or SEM anymore, but I have taken Google's certified exam in the past and actually passed it.  When I had to retest a year later, I took it cold and failed.  So, SEO is a moving target, and I got tired of shooting practice.

google: If You're Paying for Print Advertising & Not AdWords - DUH! - 05/22/12 08:03 AM
OK, if all you care about are listings, and you only buy print advertising because your listing clients mistakenly think it's effective, then you may want to skip the rest of this post.  But, if you like to work with buyers as well as sellers, and you want to find them when they're ready to buy, you should be doing AdWords.

Dose of realty time:  If you can get into the top 3 organic (free) results for your area's MOST RELEVANT real estate key phrases, such as "yourtown real estate," or "subdivisionName real estate," you will be doing SEO very … (7 comments)

google: Boosting Your Search Position with Google+ - 05/08/12 01:58 PM
Google does April Fools jokes every year, and in 2007 the joke was a rollout of the new feature "Gmail Paper."  But, we can't just laugh with Google, we need to work with it too.

This was a hoax of course, but it gets an honorable mention in lists of the best Google April 1st hoaxes.
What's not a joke is Google+, and Google isn't going to let it die.  It's very different from Facebook and Twitter, but has some feature similarities with both.  The major news that changed search forever came when Google started including Google+ posts in … (9 comments)

google: Are You Making the Right Search Engine Happy? - 04/17/12 07:31 AM
Do you put extra effort into your website articles, pages and blog posts to try to improve your free search engine positioning?  Most of us do.  Some have the money to pay SEO people to help, but most of us are struggling along on our own.

I have been closely tracking traffic to my websites with Google Analytics for years now.  I have ceased to worry about any other search engines than Google.  Here's one image of search engine generated page views:

Notice that it isn't just a big difference between Google and Bing and Yahoo.  It's a whopper! … (25 comments)

google: Google+ and Your RealtySoft Website Can Work Together - 02/14/12 11:08 AM
I don't know if you've even looked at Google+ yet, as it's still not even a year old.  However, in that year the user base grew to more than 100 million.  Google+ reached 10 million users in just 16 days as invitation only.  It took both Twitter and Facebook more than 2 years to reach that level.

So, if you haven't looked yet at Google+ as another venue for marketing your real estate business, it might be worth a look now.  It's free, and has been improving and adding enhancements on a regular basis.  Once Google released the … (4 comments)

google: 12 Step Program to PPC Marketing Success - 08/17/11 06:24 PM
OK, before I get comments that correctly point out that every market is different, and that every marketing method has merit and value, I'll concede that now.  However, and it's a big however, even after the Internet has so dramatically changed the way people research, buy and sell real estate, there are plenty of real estate professionals who just can't seem to get out of a rut with marketing.
This post is about TIME and MONEY.  If you don't spend any money on marketing, then you can't change where you spend it ... not to mention that you're either really good … (23 comments)
