New foreclosure rescue plan offers 'Help Now' - 03/13/08 12:11 PM
WASHINGTON, D.C. (CNNMoney.com) -- A bold new proposal to combat foreclosures was unveiled in Washington on Thursday.
The plan, dubbed "Help Now," was floated by the National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC), a nonprofit community advocacy group. It calls for the government to buy up at-risk loans, restructure the terms to make them affordable and sell the reworked loans back into the secondary market.
"I think the plan is commendable. It doesn't let the home owner off the hook," said economist Mark Zandi of Moody's Economy.com. "They still have to pay at least part of the debt." Help Now aims to improve upon the … (0 comments)

Study Targets Hispanics' Diverse Economic Clout - 03/12/08 11:14 AM
Marketers who want to reach U.S. Hispanic consumers must create messaging aimed at a diverse -- not a monolithic -- cultural group, according to research out today from Nielsen PreView.
The report "Why Market to Hispanics?" noted that "for most brands, the Hispanic consumer base is a collection of many [consumer] profiles" with purchasing patterns based largely on an individual's acculturation level in terms of adopting American purchasing behavior, per Nielsen.
"Bottom line, there is no one type of Hispanic consumer, but many to market to," the Nielsen study said.
Deciding whether its more efficient to market en masse to all Hispanics versus creating … (0 comments)

Latina Real Estate Agent Is Killed In a Robbery - 03/08/08 08:33 PM
Norma Lorena Rodriguez's two children, Daniel (top) and Mireya Valenzuela,  reacted similarly to a Channel 62 news reporter who questioned them about their mother's murder at a news conference Wednesday in Inglewood. Both took long breaths before speaking, stood rigid, and answered mechanically, in quiet voices. Mireya Valenzuela nearly lost her composure for one brief second. Asked about her childhood with her mother, she teared up, pressed her lips together, squeezed her eyes with her hand, stared into the distance for a moment, and then set her jaw and finished the interview as if nothing had happened.) Agents Increase Transaction Volume with Revolutionary Technique - 03/08/08 03:22 PM
STUART, FL - According to the National Association of Realtors (NAR), 2007 was the 5th highest year ever for transaction volume. True values have declined, but the facts are the transaction volume is still stronger today than all but four years in this country's history.  So then why aren't you listing and selling more homes? Simple - Because over the past several years the number of Realtors has more than doubled, according to recently released NAR statistics.  However, these statistics also show that Realtor transaction volume is directly correlated to the number of years a Realtor has been practicing real estate. Hey! I got this e-mail today and I wanted to share with you all.
In an attempt to single out non-profit downpayment assistance, HUD is circulating false information to make downpayment assistance (DPA) look bad. The most comprehensive of a series of bills seeking to make Maryland a less hospitable place for illegal immigrants got a cold reception in a legislative committee yesterday, as lawmakers questioned whether it would cost more to implement than it would save.Del. Anthony J. It's Spring Cleaning Time! - 03/03/08 06:33 PM
Common areas of focus include: clearing clutter, opening windows, cleaning, dusting, washing windows, and vacuuming drapes/blinds. However, quality home maintenance involves more than simply keeping your home neat and tidy.
It's also a good idea to check your Air Conditioning unit. An annual check of your air conditioning system can reveal potential problems and prolong the life of the unit. These problems can hamper the efficiency of your unit and increase your energy bills. You may want to consider an annual service agreement with a licensed heating and air conditioning professional.
