Things are marching right along for South Maui real estate, and some interesting developments are in the works. Namely, a new Walgreens will be built in Kihei, and is expected to be open by 2017. The drugstore stocks a lot of convenient items, but the pharmacy is the most important feature of all, saving many South Maui residents from driving all the way to Kahului to pick up their prescriptions.

The Environmental Council Annual Report for 2014 has revealed that Hawaii is capable of generating all its electrical power and transportation fuels from renewable energy, which will likely lead to new goals that reflect that potential. Where transportation is concerned, the report emphasized that new policies and procedures are needed if we are going to reduce the use of fossil fuels. From a Maui home owner's perspective, both changes will impact the cost of living on the island, which will hopefully be for the better, as intended.

maui: Hawaii Visitor Spending on Target for Record Year - 12/05/14 04:21 AM
Based on October statistics, Hawaii is on target for a record year in visitor expenditures, according to the Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA).  Arrivals were up 3 percent to 659,821 visitors and expenditures were up 2.2 percent to $1.14 million, compared to October of last year.

Construction recently began on Nuu Aina, the Hunt Development Group's $65 million luxury residential project in Kihei.
