We also love helping out the community and are active members of the Kihei-Wailea Rotary Club. Maui is a small island and it's very nice to hear what the other chapters around the island are doing. Earlier this month the Rotary Club of Lahaina presented a total of $16,000 in much needed and well deserved scholarships to high school seniors, not only from Maui but also Molokai.

maui: The Present and Future of Clean Maui Air - 06/15/12 05:36 AM
Here on Maui the quality of the air is excellent, and a lot of the air pollution comes from the volcanic activity at Kilauea. Since we can't control or predict vog from the volcano the EPA was wondering if there should be restrictions on man-made pollutions. Most of the man-made air pollutants here on Maui are caused by Maui Electric Company's coal-fired generators, agricultural burning, and emissions from vehicles, aircrafts, and ships. However, according to the EPA the future of clean Maui air is looking good and they did not find it necessary to implement pollution controls for Maui through 2018.
