florida real estate: Florida Tops in Realtor.com Searches - 05/11/10 08:45 AM
http://www.realtor.com/blogs/2010/05/10/top-10-most-searched-homes-on-realtor-com-4/#more-19570
Check out the above Realtor.com article about last week's most popular home searches. Notice that five of the top five and six of the top ten searches were for homes here in the Sunshine State. Three of those top five homes are located here in Central Florida, which is why I am so optimistic about the real estate market here. The benefits that attracted people to Central Florida have not changed. We still have great weather most of the year, and close proximity to the Atlantic and Gulf coasts. We still have all the attractions, golf courses, lakes, parks and … (2 comments)

florida real estate: Fannie To The Rescue - 01/11/10 12:52 AM
Well, that might be a bit of an exaggeration. Fannie has announced that it will make an effort to help the sagging condo market in Florida. This program is only in Florida, and so far has only been directed at South Florida. Specifically, the Miami area is where all the focus seems to be right now. For more complete details read Mary Shanklin's article in the Orlando Sentinel. It was nearly a year ago that Fannie, Freddie and FHA essentially created the condo mess here in Florida by making financing virtually impossible. In an already difficult market, the tight restrictions on … (2 comments)

florida real estate: $8,000 Upfront in Florida - 07/13/09 11:15 PM
ATTENTION: First time home buyers in Florida. The state of Florida has come up with a plan to make the first time home buyer tax credit available at closing. My understanding is that not every lender is participating in this program, so check with your lender to see if they do before you write an offer. You must qualify for the credit, and spouses must both qualify as first time buyers to qualify for the credit. It is all or none, even if you file separately. I don't know about other arrangements, such as partners, siblings, etc. that may be buying … (3 comments)

florida real estate: Florida Makes the First Time Buyer $8,000 Tax Credit Available Up Front - 06/30/09 02:21 AM
The state has been talking about putting this in place for a while now, and it looks like we are putting our money where our mouth is. In my opinion, the Feds should have done this from the start. The only people buying right now are investors and first time home buyers. The biggest obstacle for most first time home buyers is the cash up front. Now they can get the $8,000 tax credit up front at least in Florida. You can read the whole article in the Orlando Sentinel. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/local/orl-asechome-buyer-tax-credit-fl-063063009jun30,0,414986.story

florida real estate: Great American Realtor Days, Tallahassee Florida - 04/16/09 05:22 AM
I spent the better part of the last two days in Tallahassee speaking with our elected representatives and attending committee meetings regarding issues that range from commuter rail to septic tanks. Some of the meetings went very well, and were more of a chance to meet and greet and thank people for doing a great job. Other meetings were very frustrating as you watch elected officials using the system to their advantage to get their way. In at least one meeting I felt like we may have made a difference, and learned more about our representatives issues that they are concerned … (0 comments)

florida real estate: Great American Realtor Days in Tallahassee - 04/13/09 02:12 AM
I'm going back to Tally, Tally , Tally, I'm going back to Tally...(LL Cool J)
Once each year, thousands of Realtors® from across the state of Florida gather in Tallahassee to meet with our elected officials. People often complain about special interest groups weilding too much influence in government whether at the local, state or national level. Keep in mind that about 2/3 of America own their home, and the rest are tenants. Realtors® represent both buyers and sellers, landlords and tenants. Your interests are our interests. We stand for the preservation of property rights, fair tax treatment of property owners, … (0 comments)
