Is RSS Dead? - 08/22/09 09:10 AM
It's funny, a lot of the "Geek" technology podcasts I listen to want to declare RSS as dead.  If you're unclear on what RSS is, go to CommonCraft and watch their video explaining the concept, because it makes sense to me.  I personally don't think RSS is dead, and I still use it daily to gather and find new information on topics and news I'm interested in.  However, the geeks do have a point about where you can find and get useful information today.  Social Media!  Unfortunately, most real estate professionals are not using social media to help grow their businesses … (0 comments)

The Real Estate Brokers Responsibility - 08/22/09 08:40 AM
I just concluded teaching a two-day seminar for the Council of Real Estate Brokers and Managers (CRB) - in Memphis, TN on "Performance Leadership," with a wonderful group of managers and brokers from around the U.S.  During this session it dawned on me the mind-boggling amount of responsibilities and duties a real estate broker/manager carries on their shoulders every day.  Don't misunderstand my statement, as I'm a 31 year veteran to the real estate industry, and I know firsthand all of the various areas a new sales associate must undertake to learn when they join your office, but for some unknown … (2 comments)

5-Minutes to Success with Your Real Estate Business. - 08/15/09 10:14 AM

I just read an outstanding blog from Kristina Pratt, (Click Here to Read) about the case of the disappearing REALTOR.  Wow, she hits it right on the head!  Several years ago I wrote a book entitled 5-Minutes to a Great Real Estate Sales Meeting, Cengage Learning which led to a full series of books around the 5-Minute Series.  What Kristina discusses in her article has been a passion of mine for many years, i.e. communicating and "caring" for your listing throughout the entire listing period.  In fact, we're taught from our pre-license days to use the acronym "C.O.A.L.D." whenever we … (1 comments)

The Next Facebook? - 08/06/09 09:02 AM
First it was MySpace, then Facebook, now Twitter, oh don't forget Friendfeed.  Gosh, the list goes on and on.  Now welcome to Audioboo.  That's right, audioboo, www.audioboo.fm.  With audioboo you use your iPhone to create mini audio blogs.  It's cool, and best of all, it's "FREE!"
Here's an idea.  You just signed the listing contract at 123 Smith St.  As you walk to your car, create a quick audioboo (audio micro-blog) from the front lawn.  Snap a photo, add a short description, a few tags and hit the publish button and your post is complete.  Best of all, you can program … (4 comments)

It's FREE--Virtual Tours Your Customers Will Actually See... - 08/03/09 10:24 PM
Virtual tours have been around for quite some time for real estate professionals; however there is a tide turning on where consumers are going to locate and view these virtual tours.  Yes, REALTOR.com, Visual Tour and others still offer a profitable solution to real estate agents, yet many consumers are turning to other internet media sites to learn about homes for-sale in their community.  YouTube, Viddler, WellcomeMat and others are beginning to see large numbers of internet buyers searching for real estate on their web sites.  In fact, a recent report shows YouTube as the second most popular web site used … (2 comments)
