Merry Christmas!!! get the Poin(t) settia? - 12/25/08 04:35 PM

Saw these Poinsettia plants at church yesterday. They were so large and beautiful, I had to get a shot. To me, nothing says Christmas cheer like a nice Poisettia plant. What do you think? One time I had one that I kept alive all year until the next Christmas! You just have to know the secret.  ; )

2009 Real Estate Predictions - 12/20/08 11:31 AM
This is a follow up to my post, "when will home prices go back up?"
We can expect more adjustments in the coming year- 2009:
Home values will continue to fall. Sellers will be competing with banks and builders who are cutting their prices to sell remaining inventory of foreclosures and new homes.
After Barack Obama takes over as President, his administration will continue to deal with abusive lending practices.
The Senate's Joint Economic Committee predicted 2,000,000 foreclosures in 2009. Homeowners, with a mortgage, who are at risk of losing their homes will receive assistance from various programs.
Restructuring of banks will bring about a calm, allowing loan … (15 comments)

Rainy days in Concord NC - 12/18/08 08:05 PM

We've had a bit of bad weather lately. Just coming out of a drought, now all we get is rain. But hey, I'm not complaining. I stepped out of my front door, looked up into the sky and thought how beautifully menacing it looked. I was taken in by the shades of blue and gray. Enjoy!

Tony Tours the Town - JROTC Dining Out - The Concord Chronicles - NC - 12/16/08 10:24 AM
On Dec. 13, 2008, the Cabarrus County JROTC programs hosted a Dining Out. It was held at the
North Carolina Army National Guard Armory in Concord, located at 1501 Old Charlotte Road.
"A Dining Out is a formal military dinner that allows for military members to meet socially at a formal military function. It's purpose is to enhance the esprit de corps of units, give the commanders an opportunity to meet socially with their subordinates, and enable military members of all ranks to create bonds of friendship and working relationships through an atmosphere of good fellowship".

It finally felt good to pay at the pump!! - 12/15/08 08:16 PM
I just got back from an errand and getting gas for my Explorer Sport Trac. I had to blog about this.
I filled my gas tank up with 21 gallons worth of gas.

I only paid $35.00
Just a few months ago, 21 gallons of gas would've cost me...
are you ready for this....
$ 95.00 !!!
Now check this out....
I read in the paper today that NC State wants to charge motorists by the mile.
They will either track our driving by a GPS system or by keeping track of our mileage at inspection time.

They state … (12 comments)

Lake Norman, NC Beauty!! - 12/14/08 08:56 PM

I have a listing for a piece of land up in Mooresville, NC at Lake Norman in a secluded, little area named, Point of View. The lot is approx. .75 acres and heavily wooded. MLS #809180. This is the view directly across the street from where the front of a house would face. I think it's beautiful. Whenever I go up there, I can't help but stay for a while and take in this serene scene. I hope you enjoy this view as much as I do.

How the system works (partially) and working the system, or ActiveRain point values that I'm aware of - 12/13/08 09:57 PM
I thought Russel Ray's blog about Active Rain points was so poignant, I decided to re-blog and post into other groups. Thanks Russel.

Via Russel Ray, San Diego Marketing & Business Consultant (Russel Ray):
As a Marketing & Business Consultant, I love to deconstruct things to see what they are made of (there's that pesky preposition ending again, so I'm adding this parenthetical text). After all, deconstructing the human psyche and trying to determine what makes it tick, what makes it buy, what makes it sell, what makes it choose me over someone else, is simply fun. With apologies to the … (13 comments)

Don't Overlook the Little Guy! - 12/13/08 02:50 PM
I recently had a listing that I took for a list price higher than I advised the sellers should ask for. I know, I broke cardinal rule #1.
They were friends of my wife, so I didn't want to insult them. I advised them, as per comps and new construction in their area, that they should list at $249,900. The husband was so adamant that he not lose money (they paid $250,000 for the house 2 years earlier), that I did as they asked.
We signed a 3 month contract for a list price of $269,000 and I got to work marketing … (7 comments)

Concord, NC - Does this mean there are 2 pots of gold?? hoo-whee!! - 12/12/08 10:36 PM

Look to the upper left of the rainbow...there's a second one! That's a first for me.
There I was, driving along, minding my own business...when I looked up and, "oh s**t!, look at those rainbows". Of course, they were brighter than my pic depicts but you get the picture (pun intended). I held up traffic to get this shot..."honk yourself, can't you see I'm taking a picture. I need it for my blog", was my reply to the onslaught of car horns blaring at me. Like I always say...the blog must go on!

Hidden Gems...And the Winners of this week's U-Ewe are..... - 12/10/08 06:29 AM

First, I want to give thanks to
Steve Kappre  for his creation of the U-Ewe!

1. When you receive a U-ewe, your option, if you choose to accept, is to promote two people on Active Rain of your choice. Be it a newcomer, a veteran, a niche marketer, someone you have never met, or anyone else. 2. You will then enter one blog post on these two people, and give 4 great points about that person (remember this is for others, hence the four points). 3. That's pretty much it. Those that get U-Ewe'd would hopefully reciprocate … (7 comments)

Tony Tours the Towns - Cornelius & Davidson NC Annual Christmas Parade - joined by Huntersville & Concord NC - 12/07/08 10:07 AM

Another day, another Christmas parade. Today's parade was in Cornelius & Davidson NC. I wanted to be there for 2 reasons:
1- my daughters were marching/dancing in it with Rhythm in Effect Dance School located in Huntersville, NC
2- we used to live in Cornelius, NC so we felt a sort of civic duty to be there
We got there early to drop off my wife and the girls. Then I, with my son and mother-in-law, went to find a place to park and then find a good spot to sit and watch the parade.
     We didn't have … (10 comments)

The Future of Home Prices - When will they go back up?! - 12/05/08 11:05 PM

When can we expect prices to go back up?  Isn't that the question of the day year?!
The Wall Street Journal surveyed several economists on this subject. Below is what some of them had to say about the future of the Real Estate market:
- home prices will increase at a rate, roughly, 1% higher than the rate of inflation over a period of time.
- house values will rise an average of 4% per year over the next few decades.
- growth will continue in Southern states (woo-hoo!) and coastal cities. However, it will continue to drop in states … (9 comments)

Tony Tours the Town - Concord NC - Boy Scout Troop 38 - 12/03/08 09:52 PM
A Boy Scout is:
trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.
All great qualities I want to see in my son. He is part of Troop 38 out of Poplar Tent Presbyterian Church located at 6881 Poplar Tent Road in Concord NC.

Three times a year, they hold what is called a Court of Honor. This is when the scouts receive pins, patches, and badges they have earned during the prior months.

My son walked away with a Merit badge for Communications and a patch for earning his 1st Class rank (his 4th rank earned … (6 comments)
