Selling Real Estate Is A Job! - 04/26/12 04:27 AM
What's keeping you from becoming the successful real estate agentyou set out to be?

Show Me The Money When you first thought about becoming a real estate agent, probably even before you had your first pre-licensing class, I bet you had high hopes of making $100,000 your first year in the business. I haven't met an agent yet who didn't have that goal. You eagerly affiliated with a broker and started on your quest, only to find out that it's not as easy as you thought.

What Makes You Different From All The Rest - 04/24/12 04:05 AM
It seems as though real estate agentsare a dime a dozen. I thought that with the market down turn all of the "bad" agents would leave the business. But it seems that many of them have stayed and were joined by those just entering the business. And it's the bad agents who give us all a bad name in the eyes of the consumer. We are constantly being lumped together as though we are all the same...which we know is not true.
What Makes You Stand Out? With all of these real estate agents "floating" around we need to find a … (3 comments)

I Don't Want To Talk To You - 04/19/12 05:35 AM
How many times have you gotten this impression from visitors at your open house?
Ignore The Real Estate Agent Of course we get this all the time. You know who they are when they walk in the door. Their goal is to get in and out of the house without speaking or making eye contact with you. You are the only barrier between them and the house. Unfortunately, if our energy level is low that day (which sometimes happens if we are completely honest) we will actually let them get away with it. We respond to their "get out of my … (38 comments)

5 Things You May Want To Improve - 04/17/12 06:00 AM
If we let our success be determined by market conditions our real estate career will be like a crazy roller coaster ride.  Perhaps if we did a little "self-check" we could achieve success regardless of the market.  Here are my Top 5 things real estate agents or just about anyone may want to improve on.
Planning Achieving success takes a plan...it doesn't just happen.  Take the time to write down your goals.  Break them down into manageable pieces.  Where do you see yourself in 5 years?  Where do you see yourself in 3 years?  Where do you see yourself next year?  To determine how you … (21 comments)

You Are More Than A Real Estate Agent - 04/11/12 06:15 AM
Most consumers don't realize it, but as a real estate professional we wear a lot of different hats.  From the outside looking in our profession looks fairly easy and glamorous...thanks to cable television shows.
Real Estate Agents Work With Everyone But those of us who have been in the business... been in the trenches, know that nothing could be further from the truth.  One of the best aspects of our jobs is that we get to meet all types of people; from all walks of life with various incomes and professions.  It's fantastic!  But with all of these very different types … (2 comments)

The What Ifs - Real Estate Agent Training Tips - 04/05/12 05:05 AM
If you want to drive yourself completely insane as a real estate agent, try playing the game of "what if". I have found that this game is played most often by new real estate agents who so desperately want to have a smooth transaction, but in the end drive themselves and those around them a little crazy.
The What Ifs "What if they ask me how long I've been selling real estate"?
"What if the seller thinks the offer is too low"?
"What if my client wants to change lenders"?
"What if the home inspection is really bad"?
"What if the … (1 comments)

7 Tips For New Real Estate Agents - 04/03/12 05:13 AM
Although the headline reads these are tips for new real estate agents, these probably hold true for all real estate agents...new and experienced. Here they are, in no particular order, feel free to add your own!
1. It's Not About You As a real estate agent you are helping your client or customer navigate through the home buying or home selling process. It is very easy to get emotionally attached to the real estate transaction and let it become personal. Remind yourself before and during the transaction that "it's not about me...I have a house"!
2. Set A Schedule The beauty … (3 comments)
