North Dakota, Motorcycles, and Snow. - 10/28/08 03:56 PM
If you are coming to North Dakota to live you may be asking yourself, should I bring my motorcycle? Having the privilage of working with many fine personnel from The Minot Air Force Base as well as Texans streaming in to work in the oil fields, I find there are a lot of misconceptions about our climate. We do have Summer, Winter, Spring, and Fall in North Dakota and despite the whining of many Summer really is longer then one month.

I was having a fun conversation with a friend yesterday where we were re-living the days of our … (3 comments)

Oak Park Realty Goes Green! - 10/27/08 07:23 PM
Oak Park Realty, Minot North Dakota's First and Only Green Realtor.
Why: You know how you get set in your ways but then all of a sudden the light bulb comes on and you have a totally different view of something. Well this is what happened to me. In the past I felt the entire go green idea was a load of, well you know, fertilizer. There are still aspects of going green or terms that are used that make me cringe like "Save the Earth/Planet". Only Jesus can/will save the Planet but WE can be good stewards of what God … (0 comments)

Blog Envy - 10/26/08 12:50 PM
Here is a little story for you about Blog Envy. This week I received an anonymous email thanking me for my blogging because it has brought him/her soooo much business. The email encouraged me to keep on blogging because people of one particular political party will never do business with me and they magically go straight to him/her. Boy if that is the case they ought to make me the local president. Let's see, there is over 150 agents in town and if I've been so good for this one agents business I must assume I'm boosting every agents sales in … (10 comments)

Blinkers in North Dakota? - 10/23/08 04:34 PM
If you are moving to North Dakota it's only fair to warn you about our traffic. Of course we are a rural state so I'm not posting this to warn you about big traffic jams with long lines at a standstill on the interstate. I was raised in the biggest city in North Dakota and there were times that were a little frustrating but it was never much more then a 5 minute delay. I also lived in one of North Dakota's smaller communities, Underwood, and there it was as if they rolled up the streets at 5:01 pm.
My warning … (6 comments)

Boo at the Zoo - 10/22/08 08:30 PM
The Roosevelt Park Zoo in Minot North Dakota holds an annual open house called "Boo at the Zoo" and it starts this Friday (October 24th).

Kids day is Saturday and I strongly suggest it for younger kids. On kids day they leave the lights on so it's not so scary. My kids went when they were 6 and 5 and they were so scared they were crying and we had to back out (this was with the lights on). Also when you come be sure to bring your patience as there is usually an incredible line.
The scary version is … (2 comments)

Trick or Treat, Ideas Welcome - 10/16/08 09:04 PM
Halloween costumes can be a trick in themselves up here in the Northland when often there is snow on the ground on October 31st. We usually have to figure a parka under or over the kids costumes. Believe me a Parka definitely makes costuming more of a challenge. As skinny as my daughter is Tinker bell just doesn't look right with a snowmobile suit under here ballerina type of dress and when was the last time you saw Dracula walking around in snowshoes? I know there are a lot of creative people here on AR so please help me out, give … (8 comments)

A Harvest Moon & Burning Leaves - 10/16/08 08:33 PM
This has been a beautiful evening with a full harvest moon. Up here in North Dakota the leaves have been falling and we have had a couple of frosty nights. Tonight my bride and I raked leaves with the help of our little ones (Tina 8 & Timmothy 7). It was nice to get the most out of our short evenings as the sun is now down by 7PM. Timmothy wasn't a lot of help tonight as early on he stepped in some dog do-do and then whined about it for half an hour. Burning leaves in our Fire Department approved fire pit … (5 comments)

Oh Man, Not MOM's Car. - 10/08/08 10:35 AM
The big old gas pig let me down on Monday. It was quite a sight to see, for my top client and myself. We had a good laugh over it but now I'm driving Mom's car with the license plates TNTSMOM. Both my kids have the initials TNT thus the plates TNTSMOM. I thought they were really cute but I never counted on me driving it.
Let me tell you quick about the temporary demize of the big gas pig. I'm out with my friend and best client. He is up here to see the Scandinavion Festival known as The Norskhost … (6 comments)

Original Posts and Points - 10/03/08 07:36 AM
While posting for points is not the purpose of Active Rain lets face it, most of us would not post at all if it were not for the incentive of points. Personally I wish we received points for answering questions as I used to but time has not allowed me to lately. I believe that if Active Rain removed the point system their membership would crash like the Hindenburg.

That being said, and the point of this post is:
Yesterday I made a post to call attention to a big book sale at the County Library. My intent was to put … (15 comments)
